39 Resto Druid or Holy Priest?

vinod

OG
I'm preparing to make a 39 twink, and can't decide if I want to make a 39 resto druid, or a holy priest.

Thoughts?

Would say a priest is quite powerful, being the only dispeller at 39 and able to do very good assistburst dps with Holy Fires, MB's n Smites - While a druid can be more mana conservative with hots etc.

A druid might be quite handy when CC'ing and rooting people aswell, together with being a tough challenge to take down in bearform.

It's up to your playstyle - Do you like FC'ing in travelform and hot your whole team or do you like massive buffing/dispelling/assistbursting? Your choice.

If you like to play a full healer roll: Druid

If you like to play a healer/support dps: Priest

If you want efficiency and to last: Druid

If you want multiple ways to burst heal: Priest

-X

Druid can spec Balance to get more damage however, but their healing drops.

It's a really tough call.

ATM I have a 29 twink druid, and I can do sooooooo much. The resto druid is NOT good dps - but it has sooo much in the way of survival gimics and roles it cal fill.

However, druid healing does not handle large burst damage well. It's GREAT for group while healing support but 'INSTANT SAVE ME NOW' heals...well..healing touch takes forever to cast.

Priests.....don't know. I have not yet played one.

Holy priest...no

If you want to be a succesful healer with a priest at 39 please roll disc, plust disc gives you a lot more utility.

Holy is great for DPS though.

Its a tie between druid and priest, its all a playstyle choice.

Holy priest have a lot more to offer in the 39 bracket and have a better mana pool.

The only stickler I see on an undead priest would be the racial - wotf verses the warstomp

"DISC priest have a lot more to offer in the 39 bracket and have a better mana pool"

fixed.

glyphed HTs are also nice to have in team...

[item=40914]Glyph of Healing Touch[/item]

edit: nice to have, but very mana unefficient. with swiftness aboard not really viable. there are other glyphs to get.

in 39s you can get nature's swiftness for that instant save me now heal, i'd honestly probably go druid if you really enjoy your druid in 29s unless you want to leave him there obviously. Play what you want really, i do thus i have a shadow priest ><

yah when im actually rolling int type gear im at 4100mana with 120sp or so. I normally roll with around 3600 though for more balanced gear and situations...swapping gear ftw.

In a full healing roll it has to be a disc/holy priest. It's not so much that the priest is the most efficient, or even the best healer - it's the survivability of it. Chuck in improved inner fire, PW:S you are essentially trying to take down a mail class with PS as well.

My preferable option is actually a holy paladin. This is not a PUG however, and we have skype in both BG and arena. The uninterruptable healing (kick immune etc - can't remember the name), HOF, flash healing and absolutely INSANE lastability make this number 1 for me. The lack of healing on the move is not such a big problem if you have VOIP, as you can always get good positioning. In a PuG i'd take the priest however.

Druid is good, but survivability, particularly after 3.1 isn't hot. A rogue with sprint and another cd will burst you down fast.

Druids make exceptional good FC support. Abolish poison is amazing and travel form keeps you up and away from the oposition. However, with 3.1 my hp dropped and find it hard to last through rogue dps after stun lock if they have trinket and blind up. My druid is extremely fun and is my overall favorite char to play in all brackets. I feel if you roll a druid understanding its strong/weak points, you wont be disappointed.

In my opinion , Priests do seem to be more player friendly than druids are at 39 . You can make mistakes and still get away with it mostly . Where as druid is a little more complicated .

As having played an Undead, Disc-Priest and a Tauren, Resto-Druid, I can say that a Priest is better at surviving multiple offenders. I agree with others in here that say achieving a Priest's level of survivability against multiple offenders is definitely possible for a Resto Druid, it just takes more experience and PVP/ play-style knowledge (which you have.. 29 Druid twink). Both classes are tons of fun to play so I understand why you're asking questions ;).

Regarding War Stomp vs. WotF, I'd take WotF. The 2 sec stun is plenty of time to shift into Bearform/ Travelform and run. As Resto, it's enough time to get a Regrowth off and pop into Bearform as they're coming out of the stun. Both racials can be used offensively and defensively.

In Arenas, War Stomp is great because you can easily run out of LoS and heal up. In BGs, WotF is a great way to quickly get back to healing your teammates or finish off the poor guy who thought he could get away with fearing/ charming you. Sometimes being feared is a blessing in disguise, particularly when used just to interrupt a group's healer. If no one is focusing on or chasing you when you're feared, players sometimes tab another target and forget about you as you run wild. When no one is paying attention to you anymore, pop WotF, heal up, and rejoin the fight.

Hope that helps~

Note: Opinions; to each their own! :p
