I guess i can show you my mage: Sequelz @ Draenor - Game - World of Warcraft
Some may disagree about Robe of Power, i think it's BiS tho it takes out a proff just the time you need to craft it, and it's quite rare to see twinks wearing it.
Grimlok's chest is fine as well. it'll depend on how you wanna cap your hit rating (boots+gloves or chest+legs or boots+chest or gloves+legs or legs+boots or gloves+chest or maybe with staff too ?).
Aim for (ish and at least) : 2.7k hp / 4k mp / 290sp / 4.8% hr / 9% crit and you'll be viable.

Mages have limited survivability options, I've taken to stacking Crit/Int over Stam to min/max my role as a damage-dealer. I did opt for 100 HP over 4 Stats on my chest, "because I can".
I've got three pieces left to replace -
11/11/11 hat for MHotD
UWBx2 for the 7/7/7 non-unique Crit rings from DM: Warpwood.
Doing so should afford me ~2% more crit (spitballing) to put me over 25% with Molten Armor up.
Edit: HOWEVER due to the rarity of the Miner's Hat and terrible Dungeon Finder experiences, I am not actively pursuing any of these items.
Arcane seems to be more effective at bursting than Fire is, I never did like Frost at 39.
