I think the problem with <Highwav> being the main hub of the bracket right now with few players (on both sides) outside of it, is that it only caters to what people want now. Anyone new to the bracket sees it as the place to be and rightly so - regular arenas, WSG and funding where possible, why wouldn't you join? This monopolisation of the bracket whilst being a good thing in the short term does have some negative side effects in the future and some now in fact.
The first issue I see is the twinks outside of the guild. Whether they're old well-established players coming back to the bracket or new ones choosing to start from their home realm for ease, they're going to miss out, on everything really. Unless they transfer to Draenor (and possibly faction change as well) they won't be getting the arenas, the WSG, the funding that I mentioned before. Most importantly though, they won't be getting the community either.
I can see a lot of players being lost before they even have a chance to start, after all the work they've put into their characters, they're simply relegated to dead alts. If they were to transfer to Draenor or reroll in Highwav however, that further compounds the next issue I see.
Currently the community in <Highwav> is great. The resurgence of the bracket is still taking place, there's a lot of new faces and people are getting on well. However as we keep doing arenas etc. amongst ourselves, I'm beginning to see disparities forming between us. While people are still joking around with each other in public, it's obvious that there are some unspoken issues between them. That's a good thing though, people are getting competitive, they know who the want to play with, who they want to play against. We know who's a good prot pally, who's a dribbling warrior. WE KNOW!
On a serious note, that's all that's lacking in the bracket - competition. Sure, it's all well and good doing some friendly war-games amongst ourselves but everyone's got that fighting spirit in them, to kick the can down the street, to put the cat in the wheelie bin. We're strong now, we'll be even stronger when we have a horde guild to compete with. I remember the days of MYL vs. Johnny Berlin... Seffy drinking the water, Marty eating the sausage - that's the 39 bracket right there folks.
Don't take this the wrong way, our community is thriving right now. All I want is for our community to keep thriving however for many days to come.
Thank You,
Retnux / Lola
TL;DR
<Highwav> is a wonderful guild, an inspiring idea even and most importantly a great bunch of people, we need some competition though.
