Sorry for the delays in releasing the schedule, guys.
There was a bit of some unforeseen difficulty in scheduling 2 teams to play together.
Neither team was able to play against each other this weekend; in fact, the closest deficit in time was 60 minutes
Wizkid and I were up most of last night trying to troubleshoot a solution. We have several ideas still on the backburners, but it may have to come down to some creative mathematics.
If neither of those teams are able to play against each other, it would be unfair for them to give them
both zero points for the games. They would have a disadvantage relative to other teams.
It would also be unfair to give them
both 2 points for the games, as that would give them an advantage over every other team.
Instead, I am able to take their total points (hypothetical - 10 points) and divide it by their total number of games (6).
This comes out to roughly 1.667 - From here, I can then multiply that number by 7 to get 11.667.
This would place them above a team with 11 points but below a team with 12 points for purposes of tiebreak.
While I think this is a fairly-accurate method of dealing with teams that played 1 less game, I would much prefer for purposes of entertainment and complete fairness that both teams play against each other at some other time this week, which is the solution wizkid and I are currently working towards.
NOTE: The way that this could potentially be unfair towards other teams is that a team with 11.667 points would tiebreak higher than a team with 10 or 11 points, even though it is completely possible they could have gotten 0 points from the games they didn't play - resulting in an effective boost of 1.5 points (a win and a half) from their original 10 points.
While this is a fairly small margin of error, I realize how this could potentially be an issue and something that some teams may be worried about. If so, I apologize immensely but there just isn't another way to make this nearly as fair; assuming of course that neither team will be able to ultimately play each other.
Thanks in advance,
