(as a 19 lock) I'd prefer Destro over demo in pugs, I liked it to cast a big cb, but the idea of saving shards as demo and use them all at once will do big pressure as well. In Duell I use Affliction, the drain life is way stronger and I don't have to cast that much, I am able to get f2p priests oom or to kill rogues. I'd say, all specs have their usage and are different.

When 8.3 hits I can see affliction doing more work. These buffs are pretty nice.

Affliction

• Drain Soul Drains the target's soul, causing [ 75% [ 112.5% of Spell Power ] Shadow damage over 5 sec. Damage is increased by 100% against enemies below 20% health. Generates 1 Soul Shard if the target dies during this effect. Affliction Warlock - Level 15 Talent. Affliction Warlock - Level 15 Talent. 0% of Base Mana, plus 1% per sec. 40 yd range. 5 sec cast (Channeled).
• Nightfall Corruption damage has a chance to cause your next Shadow Bolt to be instant and deal 25% 50% increased damage. Affliction Warlock - Level 15 Talent. Affliction Warlock - Level 15 Talent. Approximately 3 procs per minute. 4 procs per minute.

I personally like playing demonology the most. Demonic Strength is a fun button to press & can chop down targets. If a mid fight is going on it can force healers to pick a target leaving someone exposed. Easily critting for 180-250 a tick on the felstorm which is nothing to sniff at considering it ticks for 5 times over 5 seconds.

Affliction heals are pretty nutty. If unstable affliction is up on a target, the 10% increased damage taken by the target translates to some nice healing through drain life.

Never go Afflic in duels, It's bad.

Works well against classes that don't heal much. Hunters, rogues, arms war, ench shaman, WW Monks, Spriest, mages & other locks.

An affliction lock will beat a destro lock.

Oddly, locks are alot like warriors in that solo, they have alot of weaknesses that they often can't make up for.

But give them a healer and things start looking real fun.

You'd need a spriest to be in full greens to win as a warlock.

Unless they have their insanity built up I don't find them too difficult. It's usually a mana race tbh. Fear spam is great for interrupting their healing.

Demo is the best dueling spec by far, and warlocks get farmed by spriests.

Depends who I'm fighting - Hunters and Rogues - It's saved my ass more than a few times with the huge affliction healing to tackle their burst damage.

Demo can get overpowered by their damage sometimes.

But then again - the reason I don't like 20's too much - sometimes the best play is to be a dumb healing bot and let the pet do the work.
