@19's EU Blackout Info

EU needs an @19's EU blackout thread just like the US guys have done, so....

I've written some scripts to import EU guild details from blackout realms and will be posting an @19's EU Blackout Migration thread on the weekend. This thread will be similar to the @19's US Ruin post and will include :

* Realm lists, horde to alliance ratios.

* Guilds Details, including armory links for GM(s) and officer(s) and twinkinfo private message links for GM's and Officers that are twinkinfo members. I would also like to include country flags next to GM's and officers :

e.g. a UK flag next to encorebroz's armory link etc, but only if people are ok with this.

* Links to guild recruitment posts on twinkinfo

* Some detailed blackout wsg and per-realm 19 twink auction house data I've been collecting over the past 2 weeks.

* Average Login wait times on Al'akir for the past couple of weeks.

* Links to a couple of 19 twink related threads on the wow bg forums.

The guild import is coming along nicely and includes details about wsg wins, win percentages, etc. The scripts fetch EU armory info and generate content ready to post into TI forums so it won't be difficult to keep it up to date, and include small class and race icons etc to make it look nice and pretty.

Will leave a couple of reserved posts for EU events, world pvp, EU pve etc.

Will add details about premade teams and other information later on.

This kind of information will help inform EU twinks about what's going on and should help get twinkinfo a few more EU members :)

What else would EU players like to see in an @19 Blackout EU thread? If anyone wants to help or has any suggestions let me know.

instead of making a thread talking about it, why not just make this thread? have people either post or PM you suggestions and you can add them in as you go?

I want to gauge the interest level before I spend any more time on this, if lots of people are keen then I'll spend an extra day or so on it.

If EU people say "baaah... meh... we don't really need this" I'll stop now and post what I've done so far and go back to pugging heirloom emblems :)

From a coding standpoint It will be easier to incorporate ideas and suggestions now than in a few weeks time. Wife is due in 2 months and I won't have a lot of time for wow then ;)

you have to code forum posts? judging from how well the US one went, i would say its a good idea.

I started doing it 'by hand', but want to minimize work so...

Guild info is imported from the EU armory. Guild counts, names, races, classes are then stored in a database. The armory is unreliable at times so I need my own database to store info in.

I've unpacked the class and race icons and placed them on a webserver.

I generate an up to date guild list with counts and officer names, race and class icons, etc... inside a <textarea></textarea> tag and copy and paste that into the thread.

If people want country flags next to officer and GM names, or next to the german, spanish and french guilds I add these flags manually to the relevant guild database record or player record.

Automating as much of the process as possible makes keeping the list and details up to date about a minutes work, and allows me to include up to date stats, wins, win percentages etc.

The other big reason for this process is those bloody accented characters that seem a lot more common in the EU than in the US.

They are a pain in the arse to deal with manually. Grabbing them from the armory and encoding the armory links takes away a lot of pain and avoids bad armory links.

Sounds like a good idea.. a complete list of the guilds^^

And their GM(s) and officer(s), member counts, wsg wins, losses, total kill counts etc. Anything that is in a guild members armory stats can be totalled, averaged etc and used to generate a guild statistic, and regularly updated in the thread.

An example of this kind of armory import -> database -> website can be found here, in an old ally guild I used to run. It's an achievement list just for guild members (not kept up to date anymore, guild died a year or more ago)
