19 Pally healer VS. 19 Priest heals?

Awesome

<The Awesome>
I'm xferring a twink over to my main realm, but I can only do one right now. My pally needs both the chest/ MH heirloom, but other than that he's set. My priest doesn't need anything but a new cloak enchant and AGM, and if I bring my priest, I can make a mage, warlock, etc.

But I REALLY like my paladin! What should I do oh magnificent 19 bracket?

TLDR: Who has the capacity to provide better quality heals and all-around flexibility has a healer - 19 pally or 19 priest?

pallys can put out more healing than a priest, priests have better situational tools though.

i enjoy my priest way more then my pally, but saxx tink is right pallys put out more healing.

priests all the way, much more efficient cc and burst, + that extra healing pallies do, priests make up through the bubble

in non competitive pug scenario there pretty even, in a 10v10 mid fight however priests dont have much time to burst, so pallies are def preffered there as they can stand back and heal without needing to over extend to burst/potentionally get bursted

Pally:

Pros:
Great Defensive tools (Bop/LoH)
Strongest Heals
HoJ
Mail armor

Cons:
The only form of consistent damage is exo spamming and that will oom you fast

Priest:

Pros:
More CC than pally (30 second fear and chastise if you're holy)
Strong heals (not as strong as hpal but still good)
Bubbles
Good damage (Holy fire/penance/mind blast)
Renew

Cons:
Cloth (low armor)
Weaker heals than pally

Just a short list

I've played both classes endgame and enjoy my priest more at 85, but at 19 I like my paladin more.

Pally it is! Now to get to heirloom farming....

Thanks for the helpful replies guys. Definitely enjoy playing my paladin more than my priest :p

As long as you have competent dps in the game, paladin is the way to go.

A Paladin can hold his own much better than a Priest in WSG, but a Priest is superior in arena and 1v1s.

In the end, they both can play off of each other very well. I would rather just have both.

Just saying, I would much rather have a priest getting my back on an offense squad than any pally. The fear bombs onto healers+fc and the tons of burst from hf+mb+offensive penance and bubbles all over is much better than a pallys one hoj and minimal dmg from exo spams

now vs changes in MOP?

right now h-pals have it easy, with "protector of the innocent", when they heal others whether FoL, HS, WoG they self-heal too. this is where they wrack up huge numbers in healing. a priest has to stop healing others at times to self heal. for H-pals appears "protector of the innocent" is gone come MOP. but are gaining serious speed boost level-15 talent point selection and divine shield at lvl-18

right now priests have PWF but in MOP getting moved to lvl-22, renew (hot) getting moved to lvl-26. the extra stam and the HOT really help carry priest thru gaps. not impressed with the level 15 talent point selection. priest bubbles negate alot of damage. preists tend to slip under the radar....no credit is given for damage absorbtion so it is not seen on BG stats/numbers. damage thrown against bubbles is counted.

right now disc priests are strong in heals and damage output, but in MOP priests at low level appear weak from what i'm seeing

I always say go with whichever one you have the most fun with.
I have both a paladin and a priest... Obviously I play my priest more.

A paladin has to hard cast stronger heals, while I can penance or bubble in an emergency(small cd). Over time, they put out more/stronger heals, have BOP and LOH. Not to mention the fact that whenever they heal anything else, they heal themselves for quite a bit. When a rogue or two gets on a priest, it can in a sense interrupt what they're doing in order to heal themselves, when a paladin would not need to do this as much because of the self heals generated by healing another target.

A priest can DPS more which is important in some situations when you need to play offensively.. Paladins cannot do this as well as priests. If you get in a bad position, the paladin has the better instant heals to get out + BOP, a priest only has bubble + renew and will have to balance between hard casting heals and moving.

In a pug, I would say Paladins are stronger because of their stronger heals, major cooldowns, mana efficiency and durability. From a fun sense, whenever you are bored you can always FC or go Ret. Go paladin if you want the stronger class. Priest has its own strengths and CAN effectively solo heal.. But is better to complement with another healer. Just be aware that paladins can be less forgiving if you don't pay attention and preheal properly.

That being said I love my priest <3. Enjoy your paladin.

One second guys, grabbing some popcorn...

On topic, priests have more utility than pallies do. However holy paladins are beast in raw healing, which is probably best in mid or in situations where you have to spam heal your FC.

If I had to take one healer with me in WSG, it would be a priest.

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in the wishing well but anyway, as far as priests go, they can actualyl dish out some pretty solid heals when absorbs are brought into play. Druids have to solely rely on rejuv spams and pallies just 1 charge wog everything.

With that being said it depends on the situation. Who does everyone care about topping heals anyway? Seems redundant to me but heck, I'm just a cata pally, what do I know?

lord dervington i know youre out there and if u are... keep shining!!
