19 Frost Mage Question

I more so want to go for a frost support style cc bot and less on damage, for the talents I have Imp Frostbolt 5/5 and 3/3 Frostbite for the improved rank 1 Frostbolt cast for slows and occasional lucky freezes. Wondering what would be more preferable for the last two points. Should I go with Improved Frost Nova 2/2 (4 sec reduction on frost nova), or 2/3 Permafrost (+2 sec on chill slow, and 7% more slow).

I was thinking 4 seconds on Frost Nova which is already 25 seconds doesn't seem like much compared to always slowing people for longer and more but looking at the overarching Jamesb guide has mage taking Imp Frost Nova. Just curious on what most mages would go with.

If you want to be a CC bot I would probably spend those last two talents in the arcane tree. Arcane subtlety to stop those sheep resists. Also reduces chance to resist your frost spells which is nice especially if you are playing horde because dwarfs will resist frost spells more often than you would like them to.

5/5 Improved Frostbolt
3/3 Permafrost
2/3 Improved Frost Nova

Cant think of too many situations where I would care if my R1 Frostbolt froze the target for 5 seconds. With Permafrost, he is out of action anyway. Frost Nova for a D mage is huge.

Just my 2 cents.

How does Elemental Precision stack up against Arcane Subtlety do you think? -5 resist all vs 2% hit on Frost and Fire spells. I'm thinking Subtlety should win thanks to it hitting all schools, but I'm not sure how much hit that would translate to.

Man what u said is at least 50 cents if not a dollah

Thanks for the input, didn't even think about arcane subtlety or not doing frostbite, will play around with those options see what I like best.

With all the rogues in the bracket frost bite can really save your ass. Cause it procs off frost armor too. Id say at 19 it is pretty important to have at least 2 of 3 frostbite

I second this, frost nova reduction is a noticeable difference.

So, after testing out some builds I think personally 3/3 Frostbite is a must in pugs, I have seen 4-5 rogues on horde like half the games I have played and ice armor can proc frostbite as well so its easier to get away if I happen to not get them out of stealth beforehand. Any premade play where there arn't 3-4+ rogues I think Frostbite is probably useless.

yeah good point. usually the mage is either gonna get cc'd up or if out of position you get dropped, frostbite doesnt have too much of a chance to shine in premade. fkin rogues
