19 Arcane Mage in the making, need help

Howdy,

I have a 394iL mage but I'm wondering how I'd like to play as a 19 twink. Is this recommended? If not this bracket, what would be the best for a mage? Do twink mages play arcane or frost or fire? Sorry for all of the questions, I just can't seem to find any "cookie cutter" information.

Could you provide Armory/Chardev links of BiS gear?

cheers

Frost is a viable spec right now, I'm sure Arcane mage is as well with improved CS (to a degree). Fire isn't that great as it relies on static cast times and gains minimum utility from its talents.
In MoP however... Fire gets Hot Streak by 19 according to current information, as well as Scorch while moving... In other words, SPEC FIRE IN MOP. Arcane mage may also be good as it gets Arcane Blast(?) before 19.
I don't have any 19 mages, but I'm sure someone can link some credible armories.

in US in 15-19 bracket

mages in 19 bracket exploded around 2011 mar-apr patch last year. arcane got huge buffs at 85, and they were blanketed to every arcane mage and now arcane is most rolled, followed by frost. arcane mages are successful on pugs and premades. frost are rarer when it comes to pugs, more common on mini-mades and premades for the double rooting CC's which one is ranged

as for mop...all specs can select scorch on the move.....looking at what is being posted on MOP, i would not jump to fire spec

as for hunters, a skilled mage can get them down, timing is important, knowing what the hunter has blown, timing rooting, CoC, sheeping for a free cast, and standing on their toes just like at higher levels. mage point blank casting has nothing to worry about on a melee attack on a 6 sec CD as of now.

that being said, hunters gain PB shooting in MOP and lose melee attacks

That's true, but fire benefits more from Scorch as it will give you more windows for instant Pyros (versus not taking it), which is the bread and butter of the PvP Fire spec. Arcane or Frost can surely use the constant damage while kiting/moving around LoS, but Frost can also benefit greatly from a double shatter/consecutive shatters while moving, and arcane from double AB or AB while moving.

I guess that I was totally wrong in saying that fire is the go-to spec in Mists, but the addition of hot streak and scorch turns it into a very solid spec in terms of pressure.

But mages don't even get scorch till 26 so why does this matter for 19?

They do in MoP, but it's still in it's beta phase, so don't count too much on it.
And btw. What a horrible name you have, sorry...

Dude really... With that name you don't deserve any help... Really disrespectful to the people that lost their kids/friends/sisters and brothers...

Your name is highly inappropriate and shows no respect towards the victims nor their families..
*Cough* Ban
