US 111 or 110 for Dh Boost Twink?

So I have a lot of experience at both levels. Currently my DH is 110 but after hearing my movement speed warrior at 111 and seeing how strong gems can be. I thought maybe a 111 DH with a full socket set stacking mastery would be extremely strong. Has anyone done this? And what do you think?

Here's the gist of it:

110 has best overall scaling, 111 has better optimization if you get full sockets, 111 has better enchant effects, 110 are godly in their own pvp bracket while 111 are not so much in the 111-119 bracket.

Also, mobs have more health for a 111. For instance, Guruu (a giant in island expeditions) has 208,000 health when I fight him on my 110 DH but he has 263,000 health when I fight him on my 111 DH. What does this mean? 110 is king.
 
either. if you go 111 you lose the ability to use the lfg tool to run legion randoms. both use essentially the same gear but at 111 gems scale better. if you’re also going to pvp then stay 110. at 111 you cant get enough stamina to soak up the damage you’ll take vs 119 twinks. at 111 your secondary stats are halved in n bg’s.
 
Go 111 like me if you only do World PvP and farm Islands Expeditions and could care less about Instanced PvP or Legion queues like above mentioned. I think 111 has more potential end gear with socket stacking gems. I can kill some fresh/low 120s. Leech can be over 60% at times and is ridiculous. I am experimenting with a few sets of gear for wPvP with my four ilvl 300 pieces. This is a speed/fun build. Islands are also a joke because of how easy it is..

Is 140k low health? Me and some other 110s were hanging out in gurubashi a while ago and every one of us could tan the hide of the 140k rogue who came to mess with us.
 
you shouldnt do either because theyre disabling 110+ players from turning off xp due to twinks being able to power level characters through island expos
Have you been hiding under a rock since Blizzard released that post? They’re not doing that anymore bud.

at 120 i was in an IE with a fury war who was 2 shotting silver elites and we finished in under 8 mins. how is this any different than twinks running them? its not. unless blizzard changes how scaling works from 110 and up there is no “fix” for this. weird how you know about the blue post stating they want to change something but not the info in the same thread saying the xp lock isnt the way to do it.

Since your topic is island boosting, I'll try and redirect the important stuff here. If you level from 110 to 111 you face mobs that have INCREASED HEALTH. Stacking gems doesn't matter if the mobs you have to fight have ~35% more health. I feel like people are purposely ignoring this fact sometimes.
 
In short, they are both really close. The stat advantages and disadvantages of going to 111 basically cancel each other out. I personally say 110 because you can always go to level 111 later as the BiS gear is nearly identical (+tincture and gemslots become more valuable, but the same m antorus gear). Can't go back to 110.

  • Has instanced pvp and legion lfg
  • better stat scaling
  • better mob scaling
  • BfA gems/enchants don't get full value (though this means legion enchants can still be relevant)
111
  • bad instanced pvp and no legion lfg
  • BfA alchemy tincture
  • worse stat scaling
  • worse mob scaling
  • BfA gems/enchants (although what you can put BfA gems into got nerfed)
  • crafted gear is better than quest gear when first starting out (or if you NEVER plan on doing antorus)


If you care about nothing other than movespeed for running old dungeons/raids, then maybe 111 for the better gems. But also consider other classes (feral druid is reallllllly fast).
 
^ Necroaqua summed it up nicely. I'm not sure if 110 is able to do it too, but I am at 154.309% based (non-procced) movespeed with 3x Longstrider traits maxed out at 4% each with the mastery stack. With my speed set (just 2 swapped items), I was able to get 158.555% movespeed which gives you the permanent sprint animation. Worth going 111 for IMO.
 
I like my 111 DH, I bought full 111 gear for her, got 2 legendaries, tincture, and I can solo Freehold. So its up to you how you do things!I also have the shoulders and chest piece with the Eyes of Rage talent, this makes an already stupid op Eye Beam even more stupid OP. My suggestion would be to get the shoulders off the last boss of Freehold and get a different Chest piece that has a better 2ndary trait if you are rocking my setup, adding anything more to my set up is actually overkill and is unnecessary, but obviously is preferred to make things even quicker. If you only care about boosting...go 110 if you plan on farming antorus for gear, go 111 if you plan on not farming antorus for gear.

nice toon! the eyebeam should reset and heal you up fast with the alch trinket the 2 pieces with eyes of rage is overkill like you said. i use 1 piece with thirtsing blades for burst on bosses/silver elites. the other i switch between crit proc or mastery proc or the one that resets eyebeam after you leap. if eyebeam gets interupted or you get stunned before it resets its nice to have a backup plan.
 
if you go 111, then you will end up in the same bg as a 119, wont the 119 with their ilvl343 smash the 111s ?

yes. at 111 your secondary stats stats get halved, legendary gear bonuses turn off and youll be about 100ilevels lower in bg’s. 111 is a pve farming toon unless you’re a glutton for punishment like myself.

how many sets of mobs do you pull in freehold? after the second boss mobs chaos lock? and those crushers, well, they fricken crush. was trying to help someone earlier and unless i pulled one or 2 sets at a time i died. thats with moving out of any aoe like in the beginning or the one that boots you into the air. when ive ran it with random groups ive never once had the chaos lock debuff that i can remember. is this something just to mess with DH speed runs?
