EU+US 109 for battlegrounds?

Hey I'm looking to make a 101 or 109 holy paladin specifically for farming khan related achievements in battlegrounds.

What are the advantages of 109 over 101 in battlegrounds / what gear to use and how does ap grinding work at 109?

109's can get all their artifact weapons and timewalking gives 815 ilvl gear while you farm the AH for BOEs. its still all about ilvl inside bg's. farming ap is the same as a 101( neth runs/ archeology/ farms imps etc) but youve leveled out of the sweet spot scaling of the gear so group runs in neth are actually faster than trying to solo them.

maybe stay 101 to farm AP for a while for faster runs then level up?

derp i totally spaced that! do the legion invasion world q's for resources and AP rewards then spend the resources for missions. there also may be specific bonuses from your class hall since 109's can do the 2nd level of research. for example every couple of days my druid has 2 plots of land that give me healing and/or dmg items. also a trinket that gives 20% movement speed bonus while in legion zones.

Aight thank's for the info mate! So far I don't see a reason to go 109 over 101 for battlegrounds... maybe @ShinyHero can explain to me why 109 is better for battlegrounds.

Ok so here's my thinking my 109 dk I used to have always had top damage in bgs even against twinks and guess what dk isn't most op bg class in this bracket I've even beaten some arms war twinks in bgs too so my reccomendation is just do it dude I know you well enough that you shouldn't regret doing it

Imo 101 is superior for BGs unless you wanna change specs.

109 is probably only superior for demon hunters.

This is not true.

Let's say you have an average item level of 830. If you enter a battleground your stats are the same, no matter if you are 101, 105, 109 ...

But at 109 your average item level will be a bit higher than at <109. And as I said in another thread as an ipvp char you normally don't do any artifact grinding at all and your class hall gives you more ap.

There is only a little advantage being 109 over 101 (except for demon hunters). But if you are an ipvp twink you wanna get the best possible, right? So go 109.

The most important thing for ipvp is http://www.wowhead.com/item=132510/gunpowder-charge. And you should have engineering as a profession. You can still use flexweave underlay and watergliding jets. (No nitro boosts because using them put a 60sec cd on gunpowder.)

Well if want to twink at 109 and want to get the maximum itemlevel out of your gear/relics you should run dungeons until 109 and then do relic quests / quests in general.

It's about looking for an advantage over non-twinks. 109s have the ability to get AP easier than 101s which means you will have a much stronger artifact weapon than many of the players you encounter during pvp.

Also, this bracket had the best queue times of any bracket.........a few months ago.....idk what it's like now

The difference in item level between a 101 and 109 is not that much. My 101 in 840-845 epics and quest gear to fill the remaining slots has item level 810. My 109 with comparable gear has item level 830.

Just a few things to note. Item level 750 and below gives a 0% increase in stats inside a BG. You get a 1% increase in stats for every 10 item levels above 750. If you're a 101, you need to be in BOE epics to get above 750. You will not be able to get above this threshold with quest gear. A 109 can get about 790+ with just quest gear. The game doesn't round up. Item level 810 and 819 both give a 6% increase in stats.

Class hall missions give 150-165 AP with a chance for an extra 150 AP. They don't pop every day though. After doing all the legion quests, looting all treasure chests and killing all rares, I think I had like 15k order resources. That will last you a long time if you only spend them on AP missions.

Advantages of a 109
- multi-spec
- can get away with only using quest gear
- more options to get AP

If you're planning on buying epics and your legendary, then there is not that huge of a difference between a 101 and 109 as far as performance inside a BG. And as someone else mentioned, if you go 109, level to 109 first before you do any quests or kill any rares that drop gear. If you're going to level to 109 playing BG's, then save all your crates from wins and open them when you are 109.

OP is farming a title and I'm pretty sure the gap between a decent 110 vs a fresh is bigger than a 109 twink vs lvlers?

One thing to remember is at 101 most of us are wearing a piece of non class armor type and this means we lose the bonus, it's possible to get a higher level relevant armour in those slots at 109

No they don't. 810 gives a 3% increase, 819 a 3.9% increase. Every item level above the stat template gives 0.1%.

Noone does that for ipvp. A twink has gear for every situation.
