EU+US 100 vs 109 for iPvP

Hey guys,

I took a break for a while and am back to screwing around with the game before BFA. I have plenty of 101's but have a spare 100 pally just sitting around so I'm wondering if it would be worth beasting it at 100 or if I should take it to 109 for iPvP. Obviously I get all three weapons unlocked and can wait until 109 to do my zone quests for higher relic quest rewards, etc., but I haven't played the 100 bracket since last xpac and am curious if it's as much fun as I've had in the 101-109 bracket this xpac. I have the BFA beta and will see what the stat squish will do before I equip any gear but I'm hoping either will still be relevant like 99's still are after WoD. Any thoughts? Thanks!
 
at 100 youll be in bgs with account capped players who havent bought legion and people levelling through. account capped players dont have access to artifact but can purchase higher level legion greens off AH. did i also see that the legion BOEs can scale down to 100? might be worth it to get other 100’s to farm imps and see what happens. people who boost to 100 usually hit 101 pretty fast so the pool of players isnt always enough for fast bg pops. also this is the only bracket ive found the que to be “buggy”. was in que for over 40 mins, dropped it and requed .. bg popped in under 5 mins.
i prefer 109. you can get 815 from timewalking and then decide if buying legion BoEs is worth it. my druid us around 830, works out to 8% higher stats in bg’s. also i have fel focuser to boost stats even more.

The BOE's do scale down and are ilvl 753 when they drop on a 100 toon so they're farmable. They can also get a socket and secondary stats, like leech, etc. so that would be cool for PvE, too. I have a couple 101's I made in the beginning of Legion that are fully geared, but I don't play anymore, and are only around 810 ilvl so maybe I'll level one of them to 109 and fill in the lower pieces with the 815 gear while building my 100 pally then compare. I can always level up, but not go back down, so if I don't like 100 as much then I can always do it again at 109. Thanks for the feedback guys!
 
Damn. That is nice gear. I'm not focusing on my 100 pally but love making twinks at any level so I want to do something with it. I can't just let it sit, lol. I'll knock out the zone quests then run quick HFC runs weekly to gear the rest instead of spending the money on the AH or farming for now and build it over time. I'm sure the price for 101 BOE's will keep dropping in price the closer we get to BFA so I'll pick up some pieces for a 109 set just in case.
 
Damn. Nice gear! I was going to go ret but ended up chosing holy instead because I have been healing since BC and wanted a shockadin as well. I enjoy my Ret main but was thinking we're losing the artifact traits soon and that may be a big DPS loss in the ret's rotation (BFA it's a talent) and I could heal just fine without the holy artifact talent. I'll only be a couple ilvl's different with a titanforged HFC DPS weapon anyway and raids always need healers. I am close to getting another lock to 99 but may end up lvl 100 on that if I like the BG's better. We'll see...

As of right now in Legion my lock has never been anything below first place in damage in bgs and RARELY loses skirms. Destro is a helluva lotta fun compared to affy and demo. But I haven't seen too many hpals at 100 so you'll have to let me know how it is!

I'd imagine 101 would be your best bet as that would have the highest potential stat boost. Probably around 10-13%

I’m so lazy I didn’t even get my 800 IL gear. And I never do HFC for my helm. But here is my rogue. I never queue BGs on him with queue times but when I tried beginning of xpack was a lot of fun. Maybe I’ll start back up when I can use ring again.

I thought the base item template was based on the player's level not the max level of the bracket. Maybe I'm wrong about that? Idk.

But if that's the case the difference between the base template item level and the highest potential item level is greatest at level 101.

Nah it’s based on higher level of bracket
 
The 101 gear will be higher than 102-109 BOE's but someone mentioned you can purchase 815 gear from time walking vendors at 109, or maybe even get 815 drops, so that would be better than the 800 ilvl zone rewards. If we can get relics as drops, or even purchse them from a vendor with the tokens, then that would be another way to go but I haven't run many time walking dungeons and haven't tested it. Maybe someone else knows?

Nice! You can always pick up a 6/6 crafted leather helm from WoD off the AH or from a LW. It'll be 725 with upgrades :)

755 is max ilvl besides the 800 pieces and BoEs and at 109 max is 815 which is acquired thru warforged TW gear

I never seen someone buy 815 I’ve only ever seen it drop
 
Oh okay. Do you know if relics drop or if they are purchasable with badges? I'm just curious if it's something that can drop now, but won't after BFA, so I need to act fast or , if not, do I just need to wait until 109 to do the zone quests for the relics.
 
as far as ilevel goes, if you have the $$ to purchase legion BOE its the same for 101 and 109. i have yet to see a 101 who isnt fully, or on the way to filling every slot with at least the 840 BOEs.
the difference in ipvp between 101 and 109 is :more abilities from talents, access to all 3 artifact weapons, outside food-flasks work when you use them before entering bg and its easier/ faster to farm ap i think. follower missions with ap and rep rewards come in handy if you’re going to get fel focuser on a 109. and you can get the first level of resesrch at your class hall, which is the chance for epic upgrade on non repeatable loot. a smart guy, not me, would have levelled up to 109 THEN DO ALL THE QUESTS in hopes of scaled up purps for things like trinkets and relics. next time maybe.

your stats outside of a bg as a 109 aren’t stellar. you wont be soloing any legion dungeons.
