10-19 Twink Mage Weapon which one should I pick?

I am making a 19 human mage, and was looking for what weapon I should get. Should I get Evocator"s Blade with 30 spell damage and Antipodean Rod OR Staff of the Blessed Seer with 30 damage?

staff of the blessed seer, for sure.

i would suggest, at 10-19, for a mage to get mainly stats because a spell damage build is a bit gimped. CC is the best option for a mage. spell damage is good for having fun, though.

also, if you link items from wowhead.com, the item will come up on the site while your mouse is hovered over the link. you don't have to click on the link.

Yeah thanks! You mean for cc build what? I want to do alot of damage, not really slow shit down. Anything you can link to give me some template cause I am all over the place lol:)

check out the whole thread, and determine what you want.

you can be a glass cannon with max spell damage (for fun)

or you can be CC (crowd control) and have tons of stamina/intellect in order to ONLY cast frostbolt/frostnova/sheep. it's much more useful than the glass cannon, but it is boring for some people. very useful in premades.

Holy crap Sneakthepea, I just played a BG with you the other day. You were pretty beastly exploiting the mining and Enti's. Hopefully I'll cya again in WSG!

I want to rape face so glass cannon it is. I saw that guys post he is cc not what I am looking for

be forwarned, glass cannon mage at 19 is not good compared to other dps. hunters will rape you.

warlocks have instant cast dots, they can stack stamina and still do good damage because they just dot up everything.

mages just don't have many good dps spells or talents at 19. spamming arcane explosion is just mana inefficient and is only good with lots of people around. fireball has a relatively long cast time.

there are just other classes you can be without gimping yourself so badly mana/healthwise while maintaining good dps. rogues, shamans, warlocks, paladins, warriors, and hunters can do this.

mages are just not very good dps at 19 against smart players. they can be good when the players you are against are bad, though.

hmm, acaster that does nice dps...warlock does nice dps but can be boring to tab-dot, maybe a shaman, or maybe a balance druid, i mean honestly there just isn't much caster damage at 19, better to just be physical dps.

at level 29+ the viability of a dps mage increases a lot.

the bottom line is, pick what you want to be. a 19 mage can still do decently as a glass cannon, as long as high healthed hunters don't come your way.

but from my experience at 19, there are a lot of hunters, and it might be tough as a glass cannon mage there.

how do warlocks do it then?> so the only other way I can stay alive is stack stam and arcane explode and sheep people.

well not exactly but as a glass cannon, you really are low on health for the extra damage, which means you'll probably end up getting 3 shott'd... warlocks have some stam which is good... as a mage stam is so helpful, but that doesnt mean we run around using arcane explosion all the time.. idk, there is a certain skill to using a mage properly and you just gotta play it and learn the class i guess.

My mage has 3 sets of weapons.

Blessed Seer w/ 30 SP

+4stam sword /w 30 SP + pulsating hydra

WSG staff /w spirit for when Im OOM

A mainly WSG and rarely Arena. Its key for a mage to have multiple sets of gear in WSG, if you see 5+ hunters on the opponents team start gearing you stamina gear.

Glass Cannon mages are effective, it just takes alot of time to learn where and how you attack.

Hunter vs Mage isnt always a free HK for the hunter. Know how to attack them. My rule is 1500HP's and under Ill attack 1v1 but anything greater you should sheep or pull them into your team and let them kill him(just keep him frostbolted so he cant kite).

i like this guy already, he knows what he is talking about!

i personally use staff of the friar w/ 20 spirit for MP5 during combat for mana...

and the nightwatch sword is in my stam set (for obvious reasons!) but that has + 22 int.

the way i see it is, if you use that extra mana from the 22 int, then switch to a 30 sp weapon, its like you got all that damage in from the 22 int weapon for free...

yeah,... lol

Balance druids are actually really fun.. My druid has 1600 hp and 150 spellpower so I do good heals but my dmg is also ok, Rejuv ticks for 80 and Wrath hits for around 130 no crit.

i've seen 19 balance druids do well in premades, too.
