Yet another how does class x(in this case ret) perform at 80 bracket.
Aight so. I understand that MoP blues make certain classes ridiculously overpowered, but let's but that aside since it's everything twinking is about.

The most important question first. Harsh Words glyph should be useless due to the Bjam's Door-Breaker - Item - World of Warcraft. right? I mean it's such a shame, they gave TV this cool new animation but TV is nothing but a waste of HP at lower levels atm.

About gearing in general, something like this could be nice chardev 10 - Mist of Pandaria - BETA. Keep in mind I spent like 2½ minutes with that chardev, didn't even to bother to search for working meta gem. At the moment haste is by far the best stat for rets in PvP and PvE. But since you're able to reach certain breakpoints etc. Makes me wonder if it'd be worth going for full crit/mastery reforging. Also I'm not sure which weapon enchant to choose. Dancing Steel obviously seems the best choice, but then Windsong has high PPM and not to mention 1500 secondary stats are pretty insane. Or maybe I should just go with weapon chain.

About professions. I chose engineering and tailoring. If you pair engi glove enchant with dancing steel proc, tailoring cloak enchant proc, DBW proc and TV proc, you should be able to pull pretty interesting damage. Especially if you pop Guardian and AW.

Just reforge all haste. It's far and away the best stat, breakpoints or not.

A few changes I'd make to that chardev:

If you don't have alchemy, The Sharpened Twilight Scale is BiS for 2nd trinket. It has exactly the same uptime as Death's Verdict, but is reforgable and procs more AP.

I'd use 4set with offset chest, just because whilst the shoulders are awesome, the 4set bonus is reasonably good for retribution (thanks to all the stuff we get from judgment)

And stop using dancing steel. Windsong is better at this level by a VERY long way, although you'd definitely want both a sword/board combination for defense, as well as a 2h with the weapon chain on for switching to inside arenas.

Tailoring isn't particularly stellar either. Leatherworking gives you the leg enchant, whilst tailoring only provides an AP proc that costs you a PvP power enchant.

Thanks for the replies <3

About 4th setbonus for ret. I'm not sure about that. I would lose like 9% haste and almost 300 strenght. Sure, judgement is a lot better than what it used to be in the past expansion, but still I don't find 10 extra yd that useful. Then again it's pretty much about personal preference, I have to test out both first. And my ret isn't even 80 yet.

Another thing. I've seen people thinking if to level past 80 for extra MOP blues or just stay at 80. I feel that lvling past 80 isn't necessary. But then again, I haven't played 80s bracket at all yet, I have to see it myself first. If it's impossible to win/outplay 82+ players then I'll probably just get "Herald of the Titans" title and level out. What do you think?

Windsong > Dancing steel.
True becuase 1500 Mastery 1500 crit 1500 haste if they proc 2 at the time or even 3 it scales so much higher then 1650 STR / 3300 AP + 5 % Armor + 5 % Buff if kings.

Dosent matter since when that haste / mastery procs for ret you will gain so much % increase in dmg it will be retarded.

If it doesn't stack, then why would 1500 of a secondary stat over-rule 1650 of your primary stat? Is it because of the PPM or what?

Genuine question, not trolling btw.

Weapon damage at 80 is so high it devalues AP (because the % increase isn't nearly as high), and secondary stats increase what you can do by a much higher value (the same is true at 90, but for different reasons)

1500 mastery/crit/haste is a huge amount of the stats at 80 (more than you got from gear for each stat pre MoP), and even though it's 3k+ AP, these secondaries (adding to that the fact that they can stack, what I was saying was purely theoretical) just improve your damage by more, especially during cooldowns.

Secondary stats being so good is the reason that herbalism is an insane profession right now, despite what others can get.

I think it'd be good to have a backup weapon w/chain that you can swap in/out when you know a disarm is imminent. maybe dancing steel is better for short 1v1 tilts and windsong better for sustained damage when you have to go through 3-4 enemies.

1500 Crit = 32.68% Crit
1500 Haste = 45.75% Haste
1500 Mastery = 60.46% Mastery for Ret.

1650 Str = 3300 AP

**Worked back the calculations from the armory on mastery, assuming that their displayed ratios are actually correct. Both Crit and Haste values per 1% have not changed @ 80 since Cata.**

Windsong is on the RPPM system, while Dancing Steel is on the older PPM system (until 5.1) - more haste = more PPM from Windsong vs Dancing Steel. Also, Windsong can proc from just about everything (self heals, dot ticks, etc) while Dancing Steel is solely on weapon melee damage.
