PVE/Target spec DPS tier list

Would anyone be interested in something like this?

Been experimenting with some odd set ups but don’t really have a benchmark to go off.

Was thinking we could make a friendly Target Dummy screenshot thread, say have a 50k damage done (or whatever goal) and your dps over that session. Using normal buffs and trinkets etc ie: no drums or aoe just single target.

Would obviously completely ignore survivability or PVP viability just simply a balls out dps check.

I don’t mind putting something together but will need your help from this community as I only have a couple of class’ I can use.

If this is a dogshit idea all good no harm done ....... “slips back into shadows stalking actual informative threads”

I think it's a really cool idea. It'd be nice if you could capture their stats so people can see build options. Then you can chart it out from top to bottom, and create a dps race to be the top of your class! Maybe something layout wise like this:

I know you said that no drums but how about other consumables? Mainly sharpenong stones and flasks/elixirs. Also, do you consider it fair to do things like let's say filling your soul stones/rage bar/insanity/whatever, then waiting for combat to reset and go full burst at start?

There would need to be certain rules set in stone and i would do 5 min on targetdummy no consumables, and from no resources so you get the buildup aswell. Kinda like raidbots do. Then you could try out different trinkets and whatnot, i probs do these types of tests several times a week.

i would do 5 min on targetdummy no consumables

This will emphasize 1.5 minute cds and make them artificially better than 2 min / 3 min ones. The best would be a sim. (Or, low-tech: 7 min.)

Just kidding. What is this for? PVE? Then likely nothing serious needed, real-life encounters are going to be won by gimmicks anyway. Just some ballpark figures for general assessment? Then anything will work.

One other stipulation I would add is which target dummy should be used. I did a quick test in which I hit each of the training dummies for 2 minutes. No CDs were popped, I took off the trinkets that could proc and I just kept my dots up and made sure to pool 50 energy before bite.

Training Dummy - 252 dps
PVP Training Dummy - 227 dps
Raider's Training Dummy - 230 dps

I would think the difference in PVP and Raiders 3dps could easily be explained by slightly high-rolling crit. But I think the ~25 dps difference between the normal training dummy and the PVP training dummy must represent some difference in armor.

FYI.

So, we doing this or what? I don't mind slapping the dummy around!
A few thoughts I have are:
  1. make sure target dummy is lvl 20. Sometimes I find when I log in a target dummy might be lvl 19 for some reason. It would need to be the same level.
  2. Is there a good location for a single dummy? By that I mean not close to others? On my DK, they have a lot of AoE attacks so it would be artificially high if close to other dummys. I'm assuming we are testing single target dps
  3. Set a time limit or damage output. Screenshot right on the time or limit before you start dropping dps as you back off
A couple of spin off's once we get the dps down pat:
  1. For the healers out there, isn't there a healing dummy? Who can push out the most hps
  2. For the tanks, there's some tanking dummy's (well, at least I know one in the DK Hall, hopefully there are others. Let yourself get slapped around and see who can survive the longest. How long before he knocks ya out?
Let's get this party started! ;)
