Returning player who isn't interested in subscription content. I'm just curious about messing around with the f2p world. I'd like to play a caster and from what I can gather elemental shaman is very underplayed. I'm also new to this whole Versaility system...So I'm trying to ask what's the best realm for f2p community? Is a certain race better off? Does crit and haste no longer matter in this evolving world?!

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of server community anymore. No one uses the addon. You can join Discord and also Battle.net communities, but the BNet comms are not active for F2P while in-game.

Versatility seems to be the #1 secondary stat for all classes, as it improves damage output and damage resistance. Depending on what you play, you can offspec haste or crit. Dungeon satchels drop reasonable second-tier gear-up equipment. BG crates drop top-tier gear when it procs blue. Quest rewards and world unique mob drops have a chance of proc'ing higher quality. There are charts and stuff around the site.

Resto Shm seems very very good right now. Not top tier damage, but who cares about that, right? Ele Shm, I'd have to let someone else speak on that subject as I don't know.

WB and good luck.

Ele shaman isnt played much because its out damaged and outhealed by resto. But hey, Im all for people playing off-meta specs, so i say go for it. Just expect to be more utility player than damage dealer. shear the heal, slow totems, etc.

Vers is more or less king. Luckily, the slither scale set makes gearing a caster shaman pretty straight forward.

Vers also improves your healing output and receiving so yes best stat tbh
Also yes some races are definitely better as shamans
Goblin- 1% more haste, rocketjump+ earthbind combo

Tauren- aoe stun, a little bit more hp(can survive maybe 1-2 more attacks)
HM tauren- charge stun to run through enemies in your way and flat damage reduction
Troll- haste buff and reduced movement impairment duration
Dwarf- dispel most DoTs with a damage reduction
Zandalar troll- really good buffs like free goblin glider, and great full heal as long as you dont take damage
Draenei- very good 20%hp HoT that takes some pressure off you as a resto and some bonus to all stats with heroic presence
I dont play the other races so cant really comment on the others
