Ahhh. It sounded like a statement rather than a question. AFAIK - you should be good to open them pre-patch, assuming this still exists at all. You could try waiting for a few days after pre-patch to see if the high ilvl gear is dropping, but you also risk it being fixed in those few days.

Wouldnt the second rings/boots/bracers etc being opened and not having the high ilvl be a sign to wait for BFA? As far as what Ive seen they auto spawn the high ilvl assuming its rings/bracers/etc outside of belts/cloaks

So really I could gamble 5-10 or so boxes to see.

Yeah, if you aren't seeing the increased ilvls after a few satchels then you can wait. But its pretty unlikely that it doesn't work in pre-patch and does in BfA. You could also just wait and see what other people open instead of opening your own.

This entire thing may be pointless and we'll get nothing. Its all just speculation based on a weird interaction on the beta/PTR.
