E3 Talk

I made a couple of summaries if anyone wants to read them, they're still pretty long but containt all games and announcements.

I already preordered The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind on Amazon. The game looks amazing!

E3 Day 1:

EA;

- Star Wars, okay. Visceral game is still in development, still has no name. More Battlefront content, imagine having more than 6 levels to play. More era’s, more characters, more levels, it'll be like having a finished game.

- Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay; False promise, only showed trailer; aliens, new planets, stuff that looks cool, no gameplay so whatever. It looks like it's in outer space. Mako is back.

- FIFA 17: Campaign where you're stuck with some guy called Hunter, despite the game having a character creator, new features that are already in FIFA 16, so they're not really new. EA seems to use the same "new features" for the past 5 years.

- Battlefield; Shoot stuff without Science-Fiction for once. Looks epic, probably is mweh at very best, much like SW: Battlefront was.

- Titanfall 1; with finished single-player campaign. They call it Titanfall 2, but if you buy it you're just paying for a finished version of Titanfall 1.

- Competitions with events for the worst casual players ever

- EA Originals to milk indie devs - None interesting.

Total score: 4/10. consists of: 1/10 for effort, 1/10 for ME trailer, 2/10 for Battlefield 1, which looked pretty cool.

Bethesda:
- Quake; “it was once good”! Quake Champions; FPS.

- Doom; This game is already released and available, so it is literally nothing.

- Fallout Shelter: Already exists, same as above.

- The Elder Scrolls: Legends; Card Game, who cares?

- Elder Scrolls Online: Dark Brotherhood. Generic uninspired assassin missions. I guess if you play it it's an addition to the game, so that's good.

- Skyrim again, remastered. So modded. Like when you have a PC.

- Prey, looks pretty damn cool. However, too much sci-fi horror.

- Dishonored 2, Steampunk action-game, environments look fantastic, amount of ways to kill enemies is expansive but stealth doesn't work, characters and animations dated as usual.

Total score: 6/10 consists of 1/10 effort, 2/10 Prey, 3/10 Dishonored 2, Quake 1/10. -1/10 for all the rehashed games and already released game.

E3 Day 2; The big guys.

Sony and Microsoft was yesterday and Ubisoft, so post is reaheally long;

Microsoft;
- Share games Xbox/PC, even save game progress cross-platform with Xbox Live.

- New functionality for Xbox; basic things like background music, language settings (bit late don't ya think), but three "big" new features;
1. Clubs, basically guilds on Xbox Live.
2. Looking For Group.
3. Arena, tournament platform, competitions for casuals.

- Gears of War 4; Eh, if you want to play the exact game again, but without knowing where to go this time. you can buy it.

- Killer Instinct

- Recore, looks like a fun platformer still, though we still haven't seen much, there are atleast four different robots that'll help you do different stuff. Revealed last year.

- Forza Horizon 3; Looks great, but it’s cars racing. Graphically looks great, but water looks terrible.

- FFXV – Worst showcase ever, I have no f*cking clue what was going in, but it looks great and earlier stuff did show that FFXV will be pretty awesome.

- Battlefield 1: Again, was also during EA. Looks good.

- Minecraft cross-platform and “player-realms”

- We Happy Few; Awesome, love the idea behind it, psychological horror games are always fantastic.

- Gwent, card game, eh. I’d play it if it was free, otherwise I’ll just play it in the Witcher 3 itself.

- Tekken 7, looks rather outdated.

- Dead Rising 4; looks fun, ridiculous zombie killing, doesn’t look like they added parkour though which you kind of want after Dying Light.

- Scalebound; Looks pretty cool, giant boss fights, each player has a beast as minion.

- Sea of Thieves; Trailer was terrible, the gameplay looked pretty fun. The art style is nice.

- State of Decay 2 – I loved the animation style of the first one and they still seem to use that. I hope the additions they make allow for more customization and an actual sense of survival.

- The Division; Already know this was coming, doesn’t look that impressive, looks more of the same and knowing Ubisoft it’s just gonna be bugs non-stop.

- Halo Wars 2; This is a game. RTS with Halo. Looks like everything else ever made. Trailer looked alright.

- Xbox One S(maller)

- Project Scorpio (a €2000 console for 4k gaming and VR)

Two new consoles, of which one might just be April fools, tons of games, though non impressive, except for We Happy Few. I'd give it a 7.5/10, it was better than Bethesda, had quite a long list and I liked that they kept spamming on both Xbox One and Windows 10, for literally every game.

Sony:

- God of War; Simply epic, which is ofcourse the point of God of War. Not playing Kratos will be weird (if that's the intention, it looked like it in the opening, that you'll be playing his son).

- Days Gone: Post-apocalyptic game about a biker with a dead wife and again zombies. There's a lot of zombies this time though and they can run fast, much original.

- The Last Guardian: We know this game already. Oh well, looks bad-ass still. October 25th, 2016

- Horizon Zero Dawn: We know this game already, still f*cking awesome. Shoot stuff, talk to people. Giant robot dinosaurs. Mainly the last thing.

- Detroit: Become Human – Looks like it’ll be a detective sort of game, looking for evidence and convincing others through dialogue. Your choices will probably not matter like in most games.

- Resident Evil VII – Too spooky. Actually looked really good, much more of a horror feel than the last couple of Resident Evils which were just shooters. But is it going to be first-person VR? Looks like it.

- Farpoint – Something Virtual Reality, did not even watch..
- SW Battlefront – X-Wing Virtual Reality Mission (space battle).
- Batman Arkham – Virtual Reality.

- FFXV – Much better showcase than earlier, good gameplay. The VR mode is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE though. Why did they even show it?

- Call of Duty; Infinite Warfare - Awesome space battles, first FPS I’ve ever been interested in. Lots of abilities, skills, ways to kill and it looks incredibly fun to play.

- Crash Bandicoot remasters; Give Spyro remasters instead tbh.

- Lego Star Wars; Literally the movie this time, which will mean it isn’t fun, because usually Lego games are fun because they parody the movie and reference to it a lot.

- Death Stranding: Everything dies except Daryl from the Walking Dead.

- Spiderman; Spiderman again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What made Sony's conference good is no filler, just games and lots of gameplay. Too much Virtual Reality though and the VR for Final Fantasy XV was probably the worst of all of E3. I don't really think it was better or worse than the others. The announcements that were made weren't that great. Gamewise Sony wins but conference-wise I'd give it a 7/10.

Ubisoft:

- Just Dance 2017; It's just dance.

- Ghost Recon: Wildlands; Open-world, still seems to fake awesomeness, different approaches, but they all seem to come down to “kill literally everyone”. Gameplay was scripted as f*ck. March 7th 2017. We already knew this game though.

- Fractured Butt Whole; Looks like a lot of fun, Stick of Truth was a bit too short and had no repetition value, hoping this one does. Not really an announcement, much like Wildlands.

- The Division; Underground, again. We already know this, it was planned. See above. The Division is in a terrible state (I know this, because I play it) releasing more content without fixing the core won't change anything.

- Eagleflight; Virtual Reality, capture the flag with birds. Eh?

- Star Trek: Bridge Crew; Virtual Reality for several players, cool idea, but is only cool ‘cause it’s new. Looks like it has practically no gameplay, still looks like it’ll be fun to play for the first time. Levar Burton tho.

- For Honor; Fantastic trailer, gameplay looks like fun. Hack’n’slashing Dark Soul style but on a bigger scale and less punishing. Not enough gore though. February 14th 2017. Already saw this last year.

- Grow Up; I honestly don't know what to say about this. It looks bad and what the f*ck else is there to say?.

- Trials of the Blood Dragon; Looks like a great version of Trials, with additional gameplay to leaning left and right, which is great.

- Watch Dogs 2: Looks good, characters are pretty annoying and generic but the gameplay itself is good, stealth looks semi-functional, though I wish we had some more sophisticated hacks instead of oversized drones.

- Steep: New IP, wingsuiting, paragliding, snowboarding and skiing in one game. Looks promising, seems to depend heavily on user-created content, hope they will add something of their own to the game, like a campaign/career mode. The level design is amazing.

I quite enjoyed Ubisoft, despite it being awkward as usual. Nothing really put me off except for Grow Up and Eagleflight (stupid idea for VR). Fractured Butt Whole, Trials of the Blood Dragon, Watch Dogs 2, For Honor and Steep all look like games I'd like to play. Not a lot of announcements but I'd still give it a 7/10.

Nintendo:

- Zelda: Breath of the Wild; Looks amazing, gigantic open world, aesthetically pleasing as well.
- Pokémon Sun and Moon; Terrible starter-pokémon, game looks alright. Still the same after 2000 years.

Not graded, cause I didn't watch it entirely.
