Bis weps for Assas Rogue at 19?

Just wondering what weps are bis for Rogue at 19!

Talon of Vultros mainhand is BiS - no question (highest weapon damage for a dagger).

Offhand is where I'm not sure. Since assassination uses offhand weapon damage as well (unlike subtlety), talon of vultros may be the best offhand, despite it having less stats. Goblin screwdriver is a great option since it has 5 agility. Assassin's Blade/Tail Spike aren't terrible as they have 1 more crit than talon of vultros.

Personally, I'd say screwdriver > talon > assass blade/tail spike. The difference between those 4 offhands is probably pretty low.

So level 11 Talon of Vultros MH and level 7 Talon of Vultros OH?

Since Screwdriver is hard to get and costs alot

Do you HAVE a level 11 version of Talon of Vultros? It was removed from the game when cata came out (if I remember right). I honestly don't know how that one scales in BGs since I've never seen it. If you have it, please screenshot the tooltip for it in a BG so I can see how it scales to 19.

Everything I say assumes the level 7 talon of vultros, since thats the only one you can get and the only one that I have info for.

11 ToV and 7 ToV is best for crit and only has a mutilate that is 2 damage lower than that of ToV MH and Screwdriver OH. Double Screwdriver is not optimal damage.

Whats the difference between the 11 and 7 ToV? Since you have both, can you screenshot their scaling stats/damage in a 19 BG for me (or just transcribe i guess)?

For OP- without using grandfathered daggers, you're best bet is prob double ToV. You can use tailspike while waiting to get both ToV.

The way Mutilate works in a nuthsell is that it takes 273% damage from your MH weapon damage and 273% damage from your offhand weapon damage. Your offhand weapon damage is halved though, since its in your offhand. Your agility also adds AP, which will make mutilate hit harder. Thats why goblin screwdriver is considered for the offhand, despite having a slightly lower weapon damage than ToV (screwdriver is a better offhand weapon for ambush as well). In the same vein, AB/TS have slightly lower weapon damage, but offer an additional crit chance. Having AB/TS in your offhand (instead of ToV) is better for ambush, since ambush doesn't take offhand weapon damage into account.

You could try doing some fancy dagger switching with macros to change your offhand after ambush, but I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Level 11 ToV and Level 7 ToV scale to be the same. Just they are unique equipped, so you can't equip two level 7 ToVs. This is why a level 11 one is needed. In my opinion, Fang of Adarogg is a great substitute as it provides a bit of stamina. I would use Fang of Adarogg and a Tail Spike if I had no access to the weapons I currently have. All this said, it is relatively easy to get your hands on a level 7 ToV, and I highly advise that you do that and use it MH if you are going to play Assassination.

Doh. How did I miss the unique-equip?

Yeah, I would definitely say ToV/Tail Spike for assassination (without grandfathered weapons). I'd argue against the fang for the same reason that people use the pvp neck and glowing lizardscale cloak - in most situations, the goal is to do as much damage as possible within a few seconds of opening, because 90% of the time you're going to die soon after.

Though that just points to having two sets. One set with PURE damage at the cost of stam (for going solo and on enemy FC with stacks) and one that does less damage, but has more survivability if you've got good healers and are fighting mid.

With combat, I can see the attack power argument, but with Assassination 1 agility = 1 AP. I would much rather have a couple hundred more health than 5 or so more attack power. It can really make a difference. Assassination is useful for it's sustained damage. If you live longer and have more time on the target, you do more damage.

To each their own, I guess.

Combat is the same way: 1 agi = 1 AP. I think thats just how AP works for all agility classes/specs now...

"If you live longer and have more time on target, you do more damage" applies to every spec. The problem is that without a movespeed buff or a slow, most targets are out of range or start kiting/CC after a couple globals, rendering your extra health meaningless once a hunter conc shots you for example. Thats why I'm surprised more people don't go subtlety, since the lower energy costs means an extra attack probably, and the DoT means more elemental force time on target.

Regardless though, to each their own is a good sentiment.

I believe 1 agi = 1.2 ap

That's correct. Vitality (rogue ability) - WoWWiki - Your guide to the World of Warcraft With combat, more AP gear is used because the initial burst matters more. Sinister strike hits much weaker than mutilate. So, yes, you open and die as a combat rogue.

With Assassination, your opener is barely lower than combat, for the exchange of mutilate hitting significantly harder (I've had as high as 700s for mutilate). And less AP gear means more uptime in battle which allows for more plays to be made. I sit at roughly 2300 HP-2400 HP and 130+ AP and I can still survive to hold my own in a gauntlet.

Interesting. I'm learning a lot about assassination today apparently.

Vitality is in the spell databases...but its a hidden passive that isn't in the spellbook or seen anywhere, which makes it hard to figure out. Kinda stupid that it isn't more obvious. I wonder what other hidden passives are out there for other classes/specs that might affect stat weights.
