Horde in AV

In all my recent AVs horde have been defending captain cavalgar almost everytime. we shall make a plan of ours! Like rushing drekthar right away.

Drek +2 hits a well-geared f2p tank for 3.5k. So +4 should be a 1 shot lol

Never in any circumstance should F2Ps attempt to kill either Vanndar or Drek'thar.

It's literally the stupidest decision you could choose to make, regardless of how many towers are up.

The only way to kill Drek/Vann at this level is with a P2P BiS 29 Tank (Brewmaster) and 5-6 healers, as well as numerous DPS to make the event happen relatively quickly. Also, all 4 towers must be down.

For every death to an Alterrac Valley Faction Boss, your team loses 1 reinforcement. By committing to killing one of them, you are essentially making the statement that losing reinforcements in exchange for a forced win is the only way to achieve victory.

Given that after you destroy 4 of your enemy's towers, they should be at <75 reinforcements, I cannot conceive a situation where attacking the Faction Boss is the best decision.

I could make a F2P AV guide, but frankly most of it is common sense and it would take a lot of work :/

Av is a fun animal in that there are so many ppl in the bg's but one person can win or loose the game for their team . Like last game there was this quelthAs prot pally that all e did was run between the mines and cap them . We won by 10 reinforcements . Or the team of three ppl that retake a tower . Everyone makes a difference

Yep. One of the biggest and most interesting things in AV is that it is the easiest to carry.

Which is ironic, because it's also the largest. You'd think that the actions of individuals would get diminished the more populated a battleground is.

Alterrac Valley is a paradox in that respect.

Horde kills Vannadar on EU an awful lot, but they do have a substantial number of P2Ps.

summon ice lord and win

ohwait

+1 for AV guide.

Can we make the first paragraph DO NOT TAKE SNOWFALL GY repeated 50 times.

Horde need to learn the GY sandwich. You take Stonehearth GY and defend the one by Galv, you force ally to take Snowfall, just to get South. If they don't we own the whole map. Then you reap the benefits of their team splitting up, half to recap, half to cap. And with the split team, long run across the Field of Strife, and Horde's extremely close GYs to both those points... it's a kill feast.

It's "Galvangar" lol.

And check this game we had over the weekend. We were down 100 and running out of reiforcments when we capped a tower at the last second.

Sorry for the crappy quality.

I'm actually a proponent of Snowfall having its uses. However, as you've said, 9/10 games it should be ignored.

If it is captured, it should only be by someone who is knowledgeable and absolutely certain it is the best decision.

Taking Snowfall in a game with heavy defense from both sides guarantees a team-fight, since forces will be relegated to their North/South GYs instead of spread out amongst the entire map.

In some situations, team-fights may be advantageous. Especially if your team is capable of crushing and gaining a sizable lead from said team-fight.

Although this is unlikely, because a team that can win every team-fight probably didn't lose towers (or bunkers) in the first place, which is probably the only reason you would try to gain an advantage from a team-fight (and thus Snowfall).

From what I've seen, AV's are won by stealthy backdoors at this level, since 90% of each team is completely clueless of what is even on their maps.

Not to be an asshole but, in your keyboard, there is a button saying Print Screen--Sys Rq. Pressing that button, you can get a screenshot.

And the screenshot can be found in your World Of Warcraft folder. The folder itself is called "Screenshots" =) !

Edit : I just re-saw the SS, i was in that game as well, trying to burn their 2 left towers... and succeeded! GG!

Yeah! I looked for a post because someone said they quoted you into theirs but I couldn't find one...

Everyone was yelling "Retreat south! Survive, survive!" right before we capped. It honestly doesn't get closer than that.

Ps: I sent that photo to my buddy through snapchat. He was ticked he missed it lol

The first post about it was done by Dancingroot, here http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/scoreboard-thread-62617/index11.html#post871055 .

I also made a thread for GGs now =). Here: http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/ggs-thread-2-a-64536/ .

It may be a very useful guide, because us people who hadn't played AV before it became available to F2P, don't always find things obvious. Such as whether to defend Galv/Balinda, which graveyards to cap, whether there is much benefit from holding mines etc.

Its important to note that horde bunkers have no room at all to kite, while the alliance bunkers are fat as fuck and are lower. Horde definitely have an advantage. Since WoD release I only gotten 4 wins! crazy huh? Ive died so easily to ROGUES and they greatly affect the game since there is no space to comfortably prevent horde from recapping,. I really want the bunkers to get remodeled or something.

But at max level a single explosive trap, thunderstorm or typhoon can drop a horde recap squad to the ground. Horde towers are a long way up, with only one entrance.

At 20 this makes ele shamans have a useful niche.

*BTW, AV is my #1 favorite BG due to the heavy importance on objective control and tactics. This discussion is giving me the happys.
