  • Go to the auction house right now and buy 650x Alchemical Catalyst - Item - World of Warcraft
(It's most likely that is will become soulbound with 6.1, like all those other profession stuff already is.)

'cause with 6.1 there will be a new trinket, BiS for everyone, which will require this amount of Catalysts to create the 680 version of it. And the most beautiful part of it, it doesn't count as an "alchemist stone" and so normally you should be able to equip the rare version, too.

Draenic Philosopher's Stone - Item - World of Warcraft
Stone of Fire - Item - World of Warcraft

Both together are so boss, it's ridiculous.

Wouldn't the optimal setup be to use the 680 Stone of fire, 680 DMF trinket and 670 weapon?

EDIT: also, where are you getting your info aboutu them getting soulbound?

The DMF-Trinket isn't that good in comparison to the other alchemy trinket. And you don't lose a set-bonus 2/4 if you use one armor piece. and not every class has the option to use 2 non-weapon warlords crafted. And if you pvp than you use insignia (most of the times) + 680 alchemy anyways.

Rogue: Mainhand warlords crafted, Off-Hand warlords crafted, Alchemy Trinket warlords crafted
Mage: Staff, Alchemy Trinket, Chest <- all 3 warlords crafted
    and so on

And my info about catalyst becoming soulbound ... it's a guess, like i said, all other professions have their "catalysts" soulbound. "hexeweave" as a tailor", "gearspring parts" as an engineer ...

With the trinket being BOP is there a necessity for them to really become BOP?

Please be aware of the fact that the catalysts where indeed soulbound at the launch of the expansion, something which was changed at a later stage.

I think that they changed the soulbound thingy 'cause there were no endgame items (warlords crafted) and therefore no point of being soulbound. (Just came back from the ptr) ... But being able to create those trinkets and transmute salvage blood (giving 10 skill ups each if you don't have alchemy maxed) with it, i just think, that they will change them again back to soulbound. Otherwise alchemist can create their trinkets on day one with zero effort and all others have to use their daily cooldowns over and over again. They are not soulbound on the ptr right now but things change.

I will keep 680 in my bank (30 more for 3 new recipes: trinkets / transmute / salvage blood) and 1 book to buy a new recipe for a potion, which changes your gender temporarily (could be a money maker at the start of 6.1).
