    • Hello everyone.

    This new list will show you the individual that is banned, who banned them, span of the ban and the reasoning for it. Our reasoning on some of the bans were minimal as the reasoning was for staff communication and nothing more. We have our own staff thread where we list out our ban reasoning in a more detailed manner.

    We will work harder to ensure that we explain the bans in the message field going forward so that you all know what is going on and why people are getting banned.

    I hope that this helps provide more transparency and helps to rectify any issues that come up.

    Also, I will be adding a search box to the page in the near future. It will require some custom programming, so I will do it when I have some downtime during the holidays.

    I find this a very cool idea!

    I have seen a lot of veterans/ guide authors get banned recently (to what seems to be from out of nowhere). Its kinda frightening for some to see upper twinks get banned like that; makes you rethink twice before posting something (I always panic after I make a snappy comment/come-back).
     
    Would it be possible to somehow clean it up a bit?
    Like, rm all the spammers, they`re plain uninteresting (delete their accounts permanetnly in the DB? Or something like that, lol), because as of now the list is kinda spammy.
     
    I like going thru there and reading the descriptions of why they were banned lol some of them are kinda funny!

    I support this and I also very much support and appreciate the new no-tolerance policy you have implemented towards trolling and insulting. I've definitely seen things get better very recently and I was encouraged as well to hear responses from other mods on the original thread affirming their own commitment to the cause. Thank you and thanks to the staff.

    This is a initial crack at it. I don't disagree that it is a "spammy" having those accounts in there. I will see about trying to filter down the results to exclude those accounts that were banned for spamming. I will update this thread when I have success in doing that.

    Taken care of. So, I edited the query to not show any ban where the Ban Reason field has the word 'spam' in it. That cut down the amount of pages on the Banned User list by 16 pages (35 originally and now 19). I hope that takes care of the a majority of the clutter.

    I will try to add the search box this week to make it easier to navigate as well.
     
    The 'Banned User List' sends a negative impression being so prominently displayed next to the Portal and Forum links in the top banner. Might I suggest relocating it to a place a bit more discrete?

    I agree with that actually. I have removed it. We will keep the link to the list only in this thread for now as a reference point for people seeking it down the line. I don't think it should be openly shown either, now that I think about it.

    There are actually strong reasons against showing it publicly (ie, to unregistered users), so yes, I`d support the notion to make it registered-users only.

    I was wondering, I've looked through the perm banned list, and the account I once used on another Ip-adress stands in the list but I am not having a ban anymore. Howcome it is still there when I am not banned. I believe you should clean it a little. If you want to keep me tagged because I once was a mean jerk towards others who started a fight in the shout box thats ok but it can be done in another mature way? Now I have the feeling TI looks towards me as a "bad guy" if you understand what I mean while I am totally the opposite.

    I also think that this information should stay between TI and the banned user. This will probably cause herrasement towards the banned person in wow by people who read it and want to make fun of the banned person. It will give stress and so on. Name and shame should not be encouraged by forums and specially not by its leaders wich is not a mature attitude.

    so, is calling dorygon a bad warlock worthy of a 31 day ban for johneffer or is it a knee jerk reaction because of his past/reputation?
