gaining exp after 20?

i recently made a f2p rsham on bwl horde and hit level 20 and continued to gain exp... im not sure why and was wondering if anyone knew why! the account is linked to my main account and has RaF to my main account... i have never bought game time or even the battle chest for the f2p account i also cannot whisper anyone and when i open up the character window it says f2p level cap and i cant get more then 10g but im still gaining exp.... any insight into whats going on would be greatly appreciated

the act which takes you to 20 gives you some exp in to 20.

thanks did a quest to confirm this and you're right... first f2p ever and not used to auto locking exp i also qued a bg and it was an exp off bg

did you try to get 21 ?? cause my pala is at 3 % of 20 but doesn't gaining more exp than that

I've always wondered what would happen if we could do something that would give us like 17000 xp right before we ding 20... Maybe a lvl 90 kill or raid boss drop?

Even if you somehow managed to get level 21, the character would be locked upon next login.

I recall some folks from AP trying that in Cata. The character was level 19 and should have gotten enough Xp from the mob to turn level 21. Rather, it was actually more than enough to ding to 21, just to be on the safe side. But the character's Xp just got stuck at the end of 20 and didn't ding.

Basically, there's some lock that doesn't let us ding beyond 20 (Dk's are a special case, though).
