What works, what doesn't? (In this patch)

I don't agree with the notion that priests are bad healers in the slightest. They are very mana efficient , their bubbles should be used to mitigate burst when ppl start dropping . Penance is amazing healing (I believe it has the highest hps of non instant cast heals ) . They are squishy towards certain censarios but over all are amazing.

Deadlyturtleqt , reflexz , and atwanta all do fantastic jobs and in heavy focused dps fights reflex and turtle come very close to toping my Druids heals. After I'm done with my pally I'm debating starting a troll priest .

I'm not saying Priests are bad healers, Im saying BF at 60% is a little too much and as a priest I feel like I don't contribute as much as i used to.
Been playing some AB since its CTA, aside from the BG lag (by that i mean im fine then when i enter BGs my World Lat sky rockets up. Happens alot, then goes back to normal when i leave the BG ... Anyways) .... I dont feel as effective as I used to, also remember that alli without fail never have less then at least 5 hunters.
My PWS drops as soon as i apply it or reapply it in combat, and instead of it giving me breathing room I end up spamming Flash heal and Pen when its not on CD.
I used to love using DM strategically, now i cant do that since i go into full healing mode as i watch HP bars drop faster then what they used to.

bubble is only affected by the priests battle fatigue, as long as you don't have battle fatigue you can still cast 1k bubbles on people with battle fatigue
Not true. "Battle Fatigue-Dealing damage to another player in battle causes them to RECEIVE 60% less healing".

Btw, lack of mobility and mitigation are the main issues why a priest is vastly inferior to palas and druids.Healing output is decent, but nowhere near smth that would amaze.Well, anyway, want to have fun in this bracket, roll a druid or pala.

they have the best cc and can put out a lot of damage/healing, just lacking the mobility/mitigation of other classes

Its not, as soon as the player you're healing or bubbling is attacked BF is applied to all heals and bubbles placed on them.

100% sure that worked last time I played priest

It didn't.

You could cast 1k bubbles @ your teammates just before they went in to battle and have them stick, pretty sure you still can but, the heals and bubbles effect are determined on whether or not your target has been attacked recently.

Nah, I've tested it heavily when BF first came out to see if there was a way to bypass the debuff ... Once your target gets hit everything you cast on them is affected by BF.

So if I'm casting heals in the background and haven't been hit yet bubbles on me have no BF effect, but the people I'm healing who are getting hit by enemy players will have PWS affected by BF.

What needed to be hotfixed in regards to PWS?

well I just tried it, was doing 1k bubbles on people as long as I didn't get hit

Ok so I fired up my priest which I had not been on since that October horseman thingy. Just to see ''how awful''priests are. Jeesh I just cant resist posting screenshots all over the place

game one was obviously a fluke (but we sure had plenty of mages!). I didn't get my bearings into that game and we 4 capped.

game 2 we had the usual hipsters with their rets, warlocks, mages alliance was obviously going to have none of that crap(they did have one mage o_O) and rolled what they do best-their usual front loaded damage classes like hunters and prots

now I did get hit for like a 1200 ambush(which sucked) but you just have to deal with it. Only tip I can give you keep a shield on yourself! 24/7 its no good if you are dead with full mana.Priests aren't too bad in this bracket you are just gonna have to take my word for it

I used to play my priest a lot. With current battle fatigue I've played her a little for unrelated reasons. Mostly I play my resto shams and have been trying a bit of hpal. In going from my disc priest to resto sham though I came away with the feeling of shammy being the more inferior option for healing output. I love resto shammies though for their somewhat offensive abilities, health buffing, and most of all a very interesting playstyle. I'm not saying priest is by any means the "strongest" healer (looking at you hpal and rdruid), but they have a great healing toolkit, not to mention decent damage. Also they may be a clothy, but their first tier talent (whatever you choose), Psychic Scream, and Inner Fire are there to make up for some of that squishiness. In a sense it makes their durability more based on active abilities as opposed to shammies that simply have more armor and an increased health pool with Ancestral Vigor (unless you have a racial that helps). Playing with those active abilities can be more fun or more frustrating depending on how you view it.

The bottom line is all the healing classes are affected by battle fatigue. Each of the healing classes have their strengths and weaknesses. It gets tricky in pugs where you have to play outside of their strengths. I could try and complain about shammies being the worst straight healer of the options, but in reality they have other aspects to them that make them very effective. As the only healer on a team are they the best option? Probably not. As an offensive healer going with a group to kill an efc though, they can really shine. They're also great as a second or third healer with an FC for various reasons. I think priests are probably a little more versatile anywhere you put them. They might not perform quite like a hpal or rdruid, but if you like the playstyle they're still worth playing. Any of the healing classes are imo.

Wow, you are right ... when did this change?

Ok, did more field testing ...

BF affects Actual heals 100% whether you are being hit or not, PWS on the other hand only gets affected once YOU get hit.
So as soon as you get hit and get out of combat your PWS has the BF removed.

Or am I going crazy?

They all have their strenghts and weaknesses.

Hpalas can do alot of healing and has alot of survivability, mobility and a cleanse but ooms faster than any other healer at this level.
Rdruids heal more than any other healer at the moment and has sick mobility but are very squishy.
Priests have the bubble and good healing output aswell as damage but oom rather quick and lack mobility and survivability.
Rshamans have good mobility, decent survivability and the purge, a cleanse and has excellent mana regen but lack instant heals and are weak to rogues.

I like your summation and man, you aren't kidding about hpals going oom. That was the first thing that struck me about trying one in a bg. I went oom super fast, though I was used to the Healing Surge palooza playstyle of shammies. It helped once I focused on using Shock more often, but with spell costs and no water shield they still burn through mana. Thank heavens for Kzixx and his Lesser Mana Potions.

Bottom line, essentially all of the top players / premaders in this bracket (and other twink brackets, such as 19) take priests in their premade groups.

Generally you have Disc/Hpally/Rdruid, and you rely on your 2x Ele's to provide shear/purge utility that an Rsham would normally provide.

But certainly you have a disc priest. The burst mitigation is extremely crucial, regardless of whether or not priests are "pug viable".

This, to me at least, is proof that priests can be played effectively even in pug scenarios. They're an extremely viable, extremely powerful healer in the right scenarios.

1 disc 1 rdruid are pretty set in stone then you have either 1 or two spots to fill depending on the rules and that's used for 1 hpala and/or monk or 2x hpalas

I have very little experience with premades, but I can absolutely see that being the case. There's really not much of anything unique that a rshammy would bring to the comp other than ancestral vigor on some teammates which isn't all that significant. As long as ele is (or if enh was) a strong dps, that probably won't change. Unless with ability shifting with new patches resto gains some ground.
