How I got my twink deleveled

About two weeks ago I accidentally dinged level 20 on one of my twinks. Without really expecting any results I ofcourse made a ticket, asking them to delevel my character or sending my grandfathered items to a level 1 so I could atleast start over but keep my GFs. (Trying won't hurt, right?)

As expected, this is what they responded with after 4 days of waiting:

Hey there.

I am very sorry to hear that this happened. It is your responsibility to double check that your experience is turned off when you play your character. Unfortunately Game Masters do not have the ability to downlevel characters.

I understand this is not the answer you wanted. Please always be as careful as you can be with your character, especially in sensitive situations like this.

I made two more tickets before I was lucky enough to get a response from a GM that was thinking outside the box; he noticed that I recently underwent a character transfer.

I have to be honest we are not allowed to either delevel your character, and /or do what you ask (sending the items to a new character). I know this is not the answer you wish to read, but since twinks are not fully supported, the kind of assistance you request is outside the scope of intended support. As far as talking with someone else, I can direct you to csfeedbackeu@blizzard.com, that is an email address, since any in game request you make to a game master, will end receiving more or less the same answer, since policies wise, any of us cannot really help you. but I need to alert you that you will probably end up getting the same answer.

Having said that I noticed that your transfer/faction change was somewhat recent... we could cancel it and refund it, what would means that your character would be placed back in the original server and be lvl 19 again. Of course this means that you would have lost any progess made since the third of January. but it is the only way to resolve this.

If you wish to do this, please answer this message. We will then contact you to proceed as I mentioned above.

I responded and said I wanted it done, and I also asked if they could unbind the Mindthrust Bracers I equipped minutes before I hit level 20. Three days later I logged on to find my twink restored on its old realm, and my MTBs in the mailbox on my bank alt.

TL;DR: I reverted a realm transfer which restored the character.

I realise this won't really help anyone since it's a fairly unique case but I thought it'd be fun to share a success story anyway.

Grats on getting your character 'deleveled'. I was only able to get my rares and grandfathered gear moved over to a new character- I also was fortunate to get the gm to circumvent the name lock =]. Either way I got my 19 twink back minus an agm.

Basically as far as I know, this is the only circumstance in which you can get your character restored to an earlier level. I did try asking to get mine restored to a not so recent realm transfer but had no luck. I wonder if it is possible to have this done with an older one, as far as I know policy is what prevents them from doing just that. I wonder if a more negotiable tinker could persuade a gm to do that lol.

yea i had a friend try and get his items moved to a new toon after he leveld it and used you as an example after the gm said it couldnt be done, it never got done rip

Similar to how sneaky managed it also, rolled his monk back to before a faction change rather than a realm xfer iirc.

I used Twiggi as an example when talking with a GM as well, and they told me that their policies had changed since that time.

Yeah I called and made multiple tickets. Basically my argument was if they made an exception for one person, they should for everyone. Spoke to a manager and sent lots of emails.

i always thought about what i would do or say if i ever lvled a tink my biggest wow fear ( next too purlioner on D or tellefella or silins and her unlimited swift pots ( i now have 20 swift pots) i thought i would try to tell them that i would jump off a bridge if they didnt give me my gf'd gear on a new toon. im still scared to cap or play a war game thinking how much we all know blizzard hates tinks one day they will make it so wargames give xp and some of us will find out the hard way

So I read over your request to have your level 20 hunter de-leveled for you. I can totally understand why you would want this done as "twinking" has been around in WoW for a super long time. We here at Blizzard have never actually supported this play style though and we do not de level characters under any circumstances. I read over that link you provided and the person that posted that had a character transfer / faction change they recently purchased rolled back which was actually not something the Game Master who answered there ticket was supposed to do.

In the case of a character transfer / faction change refund and reversal the proper policy is to refund if the request comes to us within 3 days of the initial purchase then provide a zero cost transfer / faction change back to the original realm so that the player can keep all the progress gained while on the new realm. So in the link the poster got luck because the Game Master who processed the transfer / faciton change refund and reversal did so incorrectly which was a legitimate mistake on our part

So how does this apply to your situation? I had a look at your character transfer and your character transfer / faction changes and I can see the last character transfer / faction change you did was on 12/28/13 for a character named Awesome. The last trasnfer you did was on 12/17/13 for a character named Owlcupwn. So this means that your hunter is not eligable for a reversal because there was no in game service purchased for that character recently enough. I know you enjoy twinking and in all honesty there isn't really anything wrong with that play style but we here at Blizzard cannot and will not assist players who choose to play this way. We won't be able to de level your hunter under any circumstances and if you continue to request such a service you will be met with the same answer over and over again. I thank you for your understanding here Andrew and we hope you continue to enjoy Blizzard games!

This guy mispelled a lot, and was kind of rude... what is going on lol. He didn't mention any change of policy, or anything. And he was incorrect on the part of me transferring Owlcupwn, I did transfer him, but I also transfered Awesome (Deftonez@Aerie Peak) before him, within a few days.

@OP, how long was the period of time before you had your character de-leveled? I'm going to try again.

Edit: I thought it would be worth mentioning that I leveled Awesome before the character transfer, so this may not apply to me... however, I did purchase a faction transfer on Awesome a long time before the leveling... so this may all be useless, it depends on whether or not I get a sympathetic GM who'll de-level him in by refunding both the character transfer, and the faction.

I don't think that this will happen, but is it worth a shot?

Congratz! Lots of stories of people leveling their twinks and not many people having success.

I personally like to leave my exp off on my twinks. But that's just me...

If I do need to do wargames I like to turn my exp back off afterwards. But again, that's just me. ;D

When I xfered my gfd hunter with gfd head enchants, zg enchants etc I knew that his exp would be turned on so I simply logged on an alt and made a ticket to make sure his exp could be turned off… But that's totally just me.

If I were to level my rogue (dual fangs, gfd gear / talbar mantle / scout's from before / TCG items / Tabard of Frost) I simply would just quit for good. It's not like I've really enjoyed playing that rogue any time in the past few years. I've played him from time to time in the past but I would only do so in silly gear sets or as a spec that people considered to be "unviable" and just focus on assisting flags / teamwork.

But again, that's totally just me

I remember when a game master was going to transfer my level 1 tuxedo pants with 45 stam 15 agi enchant and he deleted them and just mailed a normal pair to me, unfortunately, GM's cannot enchant items and when they go to transfer them to you, they delete the origional and make a new one.
