Cross Realm WPvP Event #2

Kochist

Legend
Last Weekend we organized a WPvP event in Zul'Gurub. There is a video link of that event in the feedback thread:

http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/f43/[feedback]-wpvp-zulgurub-event-51024/

Next Saturday (July 27th) will be another event at the same time. This is at 12:00 PM PST, which is also the same as server time for Aerie Peak. Yde has provided information for other time zones:

1 PM (MST)
2 PM (CST)
3 PM (EST)
8 PM UK (BST)
21:00 Central EU (CEST)

How long will the event last? The previous event lasted for 2 hours and 30 mins, but this time we will keep going as long as people are interested (10+ on each side).

Players on Aerie Peak do not need to sign up but you could reply below if you want. We will start inviting people 30 minutes before the event and anyone on the F2PChannel is welcome to join.

Players on other US realms can sign up by adding your information in a reply.
-Realm
-Faction
-Character name

In the second post I will make a list of all the Cross Realm people. 30 minutes before the event we will check these realms and send out invites. If you miss the invite or did not sign up for Cross Realm then you could come to Aerie Peak on a new character and ask for an invite. We can then send someone to your realm to add your character.

ZG is a zone that is completely empty and is special because when a player dies in the ZG zone they are ported outside (and automatically back to life with no timers).

We have two Warlocks (one Alliance and one Horde) use summons to get people back inside. In this way it is similar to a BattleGround in that each faction has a spawn point and can quickly get back into battle. However, you will never be in ghost form or have to run back to your corpse.

- - - Rules - - -

1. Last time we had no Hunters. For this event we will allow 1 or 2 per side. We might ask them to take off Aspect of Hawk or something to lower their damage.

2. Do not PvP at the port location. Both Alliance and Horde are sent to the same place upon death. Just do the "Select Role" and wait for the summon.

3. Do not attack or disrupt the enemy summoning stone. We will place some Raid Icon markers to show the enemy base that you can not enter.

4. During the event we will try to balance Horde and Alliance. If one side is too strong then we will request that some people switch to the other side. We will also request some people to change classes if there are too many healers or too many rogues, etc.

- - - Fire Temple - - -

This is another zone that is similar to Zul'Gurub in that deaths port you out and back alive. The event will start in ZG but we might switch over to the Fire Temple later on. It has also been suggested that we organize some competitive matches with smaller teams taking turns while people not playing can sit on this bridge and watch the battle.

The Raid Icons in this video are possible spawn locations or objectives.

This place is the final quest for the Hyjal zone. However, when a high level enters the place for that quest it puts them in a different phase so we do not even see them.

Once a character dies, how do they request a summon?

For this event we are going to try a new method by having characters use the "Select Role" feature. When you die and are ported outside then right click your name and from "Select Role" choose "Damage". This will notify the summoners that you need a summon and they can look at their raid frame and easily target you because the Damage symbol will be next to your name.

Once you receive the summon you need to right click your name again and from "Select Role" choose "None". This will take away the Damage symbol next to your name.

You can also use a macro to change roles. Use this to choose the role:

/run UnitSetRole("player","DAMAGER")

and to clear the role:

/run UnitSetRole("player","NONE")

Would also help summoning of course. :) Worked relatively well last time with people jumping in I think. I like the Damage role idea, would definitely help with targeting.

*salute*

Engineer Bread reporting for duty, sir! :O

This is my map, I will use it to see people located outside ZG to target and neut- uh re-corporealize them before your very eyes. My mission and goal? Is to do so faster than the evil horde menace! Funneling our troops back the fastest is crucial to our endgame, sir!

The enemy will know and identify me by mechanic overalls, goggles, and wrench in hand. But behind these goggles lays a crazed goat engineer from space, trained by gnomes and raised by worgs. Not even the gnomes who trained me can even begin to comprehend my mechanical crazy, I'm rabies crazy, babeh! Mad space goat disease of the mechanical inclined!

This is my *Raid Frame*, I will use it to see people *with Damage Role* to target and neut- uh re-corporealize them before your very eyes. My mission and goal? Is to do so faster than the evil horde menace! Funneling our troops back the fastest is crucial to our endgame, sir!

Im going to get my warlock gear first I think but I must say telling hunters to take aspect off is like wha? I mean they don't do that much damage without scaling do they? [/url]

I have not really tested Hunter damage. From this event we will see how it goes. I just did not want there to be swarms of hunters like we see in many WSG games.

I'd make the hunters at least sign up via TI so the number is balanced and interested people are guaranteed a spot. :) Would love to see Lil and Felix!

And If you haven't done it yet maybe make a few macros to announce some rules in raid when someone joins. Someone joined late last time and didn't know anything about TI and killed Bend after the fighting had ceased, to multiple shouts of 'stahp!' and 'no!'. ;_;

Regarding Zul'Gurub if we just wanted to do a free for all for some time, I thought this might be a nice spot:

And with objectives I would really love to try the Temple of Bethekk:

Could do escort the two Kings races to the top, or have one faction assaulting and one defending from cellar, or have summons on the two platforms outside, decree that PvP only starts after the first stairs down and and just have a free for all again. I love that place! :)

Another game type you could possibly do in the future is a VIP mode. Maybe a level 55 DK on each team or something in normal gear and the first one to go down loses.

Just an interesting thought that came to mind and of course this could be reworked to fit better.

I Won't lose this one,, not sure if coming as shammy or warrior.. but I'll decide till friday :)

Blackwing Lair Horde Elemental Shaman - Híndu

Blackwing Lair Horde Protection Warrior - Hïndu

If you die you can set your role with
/run UnitSetRole("player","DAMAGER")

Maybe the summon click can incorporate /run UnitSetRole("player","NONE") so the player doesn't have to reset their role. I think if the person doing the summon is a Raid Leader that shouldn't be a problem.

Fire place looks sick as shit. I'll try and be on (mage) but weekends can be tough. Have fun all.
