The end of an era?

Because these are the North American servers, which have always included LA countries because, guess what, a lot of them are in North America. They added Brazil because they were closer to the NA servers than the EU servers (where by the way, the have all sorts of languages grouped up). Yes, there are terrible BR players, and terrible LA players, but check it out, there's terrible NA players too. One of my all time favorite pallies from way back (Agu anyone?) was a LA player. I've seen plenty of great players from BR servers as well.

Stereotyping is bad for you, it limits your perception.

And while I'm always more than happy to educate people in matters of intercultural tolerance.... this has nothing to do with the topic of this thread ><

I just want to say that i don't hate these guys... i just don't want to be grouped with them, we cannot even understand each other. The difference with multiple countries over in the EU is that most of them speak english. So they can communicate. I would much rather be grouped with the EU than these guys.

I'll just wait for someone who plays EU to come disagree with this shall I.

It's not about what it means, it's how people use it. It's being used in a derogatory way. The word "spick" originated from ridicule of the way people with a spanish accent tend to pronunce the word "speak," and today most people would consider that term to be very offensive and racist. How is calling people by any other racially stereotypical word meant to insult them any different?
I use the term jaja to let people know someone is spanish or portuguese or just people who probably dont speak english in bgs but never honestly meant it in a rude or racist way (don't consider myself one at all :/ ). I like your post alot more then obnoxious posts made about this topic to me couple days ago but I have a question (meh we are completely off topic here mine as well continue it! :p)

I used to say spanish FC instead of jaja however I have had like a few people literally start cursing me out when I say that because they aren't spanish but instead Portuguese or some other language (I guess some people really don't like being classified as spanish?) so I started saying jaja as I thought that was how spanish and portuguese people say lol so it's kinda grouping them both together without offending one (so I thought) by saying they are a different language. How would you point out a non english FC while trying not to offend anyone?

... As I was typing this I thought about just saying FC doesn't speak english... Forgot about the obvious I guess :/ If that is your reply I'm gonna /slap myself lol

Sigh... okay, just remember i said most and not all, and remember when i said stereoptypes have a shred of truth i meant exactly that. I didn't say every single BR to ever walk the face of the earth is a terrible player. Just that it seems to be a common occurrence. So common that many people have taken to spamming the forums about it, here any many other places.

Which is neither here nor there.
OT F2p will never end as long as they're allowed to play-for free.

Edit, i don't want to argue with you because you seem like a nice person, and i dont honestly think ive ever seen you post anything mean or nasty. So ill just agree to disagree with you~ Have a good day.

Yeah you definitely don't want to use Spanish to refer to people in Latin American countries, they were colonized by the Spanish and the relationship wasn't always very friendly. Brazilians would be offended because they're not Spanish at all, they were colonized by Portugal, and it must annoy them that people are constantly forgetting that Brazilians speak Portuguese not Spanish.

In my experience people have been using the term "jaja" to mean "nooby terrible player that speaks a language I don't understand." Thus my classification of it as intended to be insulting.

As to what to call an FC that doesn't speak English so that the team knows I usually just do the server type, LA or BR (although I suppose not everyone knows which servers are in which area), I've also just said "heads up I don't think the fc speaks English." .... But I speak Spanish, so it's less of a problem for me

Damn why did I choose to learn french in high school :/ If only I would have learned Spanish this all wouldn't be a problem! I didn't even remember Brazilians so them plus Portuguese plus Spanish are just too many languages to try and remember or know the difference of unless I literally copy+paste ydes whole multilingual macro thread.

Since jaja is rude (or racist) to some people I'm just gonna start saying FC isn't English. Atleast if they speak English and start cursing me out for saying they aren't English I will know what they are saying and will be able to apologize! ^-^

Why's it matter what language they speak? Or where they are from?

Just make a few macros...

{rt4}Your FC (transportadora de bandeira/portador de la bandera) is Ramp - Rampa
{rt4} (GY-Cementerio-Cemitério)

and

{rt1}Assist-Auxiliar-Ayudar{rt1}

It's not hard to make some direction macros and simple requests.

Then you don't have to say anything people will criticize you on.
