Looking for tips for playing an ele shaman... Is it necessary to go horde for the gear? Id rather just stay alliance.

It would be wise to start out as Horde first and then factioning over to Alliance as you would be missing out on a lot of useful gear that requires Horde side to obtain.

Items such as Merger Boots, Uninsured Bracers, Stillwater Signet, Argas Ring (for x2), Wild Rider Glove's, and Shield of Talrendis.(hope I'm not missing anything). These are all BIS and there are really no significantly better items on Alliance side.

Despite the fact that you would be missing out on those items listed above, if you do decide to stick with Alliance there are always some items that will suffice and won't effect your game play.

you really need horde gear, its too good to pass up and theres no point in playing a shaman that hasnt got the gear.

I personally hate the idea of putting more $ in blizzard's pocket when I haven't truly been "happy" with the game since 2008 or so. If you don't want to faction I'd say that rerolling completely over to Horde would probably be better to be honest :c the gear is quite significant. Is your ally shaman indeed grandfathered?

Or you can rough it out as alliance I've come to find that CC is vastly more important than anything else when it comes to PvP (besides coordination that is). With that being said gear has little to no effect on CCing.

The game is still great if not better, wotlk had r shaman doing more dmg than a warrior, today it's more talent/specc balanced which is better imo, I could name so many things good and bad about the evolving throughout the expanions but I personally don't give a crap and i don't think people would read it

As said before the amount of bis gear you will be missing from just rolling alliance is pretty sad, if your serious about still wanting to be ally only you can make a decent geared shaman with ally only gear but it wont be as good as one that has been factioned. With that said pretty much everything that Das said but include Shield of Talrendis Point

kinda bump this since it is about ele shaman, but what is more effective the 7 int from wizard oil or the 7% magic damage done from flametongue?
