New to Twinking (but loving it!)

Spriesta

Legend
  • I had my account lost by Blizzard not too long ago. I had a level 87 Blood Death Knight, with around 6,000g, a level 40-something hunter and a level 70 geared Frost Mage.

Anyways, the account was lost so I had to start over. After leveling a pally to 42, a hunter to 50 and a shaman to 45, I realized that I really had no inclination to level any of those chars to 90 and then gear them. It's simply a long process, and a boring one at that.

I was leveling my priest, when I entered a duel with a level 24 shadow priest (Name: Sei, Shu Halo - Alliance). She completely destroyed me. After talking with her, she told me more about twinking. I decided to level up to 24, and then I twinked immediately. Within the day I got Acidic Walkers and Nesingwary's Sash (I have switched the belt out for Girdle of Nobility).

Character: Spriesta @ Shu'halo - Community - World of Warcraft
    Shu' Halo, Alliance

Since then I've gotten Silk-Threaded Trousers and the Electromagnetic Gigaflux Reactivator (helm). I've almost maxed out on tailoring, and I will be moving on to Engineering so I can get the +18int goggles and +pvppower cloak.

Anyways, I've played for 2 days and 9 hours. I've spent about 24 hours dueling and doing xmog runs, or I've just let my character sit there while I browse the internet.

Thanks to whoever linked to TwinkInfo in a BG last night -It got me here.
    Any tips for twinking?

I am currently rolling as a Disc priest for the fast queues, but I'll be switching to Shadow once I'm BiS. I usually switch back and forth depending on what I'm doing.

Glad to see a returning twink, especially after a 'lost' account ( Can be very demoralizing. ). As for tips, I'd suggest going to the appropriate forum for any questions / information you seek.

    Play some 70s! >.>

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I know how to play WoW and I've played almost every class now except for Monk. I'm going to be fully gearing the priest (Spriesta) and doing PvP. I'm then going to use the honor to start making a BoA char (probs a hpally). Hpally will probably be 29 or 34, depending on which bracket is more popular.

I'm considering playing pvp as disc, just so I don't have to keep paying the 1gold respec price between BGs and dungeons.
Are there any frequent premades or groups for BGs?

If your question is referring to the brackets in mention, you'll have better luck finding that out in "25-29" or "30-39" forum sections.

Although if you refer to 70s, I can only speak for the states. Ques are decent, prime time being around 5-9 PM EST weekdays, all day weekends. Average of 15-20 minute ques. ( BGs ) I form premades consistently for these.

I will be nice since you seem nice.. 20-24 is by far the most active bracket. Ally q is between 2-10 minutes for wsg and 10-25 for ab and horde is like instant-5 for wsg and 3-10 for ab I believe?

However if you read around the f2p forum or 20-24 forum you will find if you play a 24 you will get alot of hostility (for obvious reasons) and if you change your spec to a spriest then expect people to get really mad since you will look like just another fotm reroller (spriest is atm one of the most OP classes and have been since mop). If you choose to stay 24 then welcome to the bracket I guess and you can refer to the 20-24 section on some armories for bis or just generally chat.

I will recommend though that you should try out f2ps if you wanna stay in this bracket for the fast qs. F2P is "twinking" alot more then 24s and it can be challenging with limitations but the rewards knowing you finally got BiS (or when you are playing your 20 priest and kill a 24 priest and know 100% that you outskill that 24 ^-^ ) is better then 2 shotting or spamming bubble on everyone for 150% of their hp.. It just honestly is a playstyle and what you consider more fun but I thought I'd pipe in before your mind gets corrupted with 24s :p

W/e your choice is though welcome to TI and welcome to the #1 bracket activity wise

Yeah I haven't gotten QQ for being 24, but I have gotten QQ about the shadow priest part.
I'm currently rolling disc at the moment simply because I need to do dungeons frequently and there are hardly ever heals. I do better as shadow priest, individually, but as disc my team always does better. A lot of the time we'll cap a flag or win a base and I'm the only healer (we would have died without me healing).

I'm not going to lie - I completely disagree with the comment about rolling a F2P 20 instead of a 24. I think one aspect of twinking is doing everything you can to improve your character. If twinking includes getting the best gear (even if it's just 1 extra point of Intellect), then choosing level 20 over 24 should NEVER be a viable option.

If I do roll a F2P 20 it will simply be because nobody will duel my 24 in Goldshire anymore.

You are my F2P nightmare - fully geared I (with a Horde buddy at each elbow) stand very little chance against you... please level up or stay Disc ;)

You guys saw me there? Damn sometimes I thought I didn't make a difference.
My new twink is on the way. I leveled "Spriesta" for the sake of my guild, but my new twink will have more BoAs, and more enchants if 5.4 patch goes through.

:D it'll most likely be Disc. Name is "Twinksta" on ShuHalo

    Welcome spriesta

I get why you want to fully twink your character....but the majority of the bracket isn't 24. You aren't going to mostly be fighting 24's. Even half the f2p population isn't f2p twinked. Rolling a fully twinked 24 priest... it's like a senior in high school saying he wants to do to the best of his ability and outshine his/her peers ...while participating in the 6th grade.

It's your character to do what you want with, I respect that. I humbly request you do not participate in those atrocious 24 fotm premades fighting against pugs.

I respect F2Ps for handicapping themselves.
Though I will never drop to 20 when I can be 24.
Not sure if you fall under this category, but I seriously laugh at F2Ps that QQ about 24s. F2Ps make the decision to limit themselves, and I choose to actually be a twink. As far as brackets go, a level 20 will never be BiS unless they get their own bracket.

Thanks for your thoughts, but next time I show up it'll be a BoA BiS 24, whatever class it is.
