Honestly, How bad is ret...?

What does this class hit for? For some reason lately I've been tempted on rolling one...

You have to take it for what it is, the only pure hybrid class in this bracket. Medium Damage, Medium heals.

Pressure/Off heals. Not like a priest or a holy paladin who can do high damage and keep themselves and another person up while being a threat on the field.

I can think of 3 classes/specs that do it better but that shouldn't discourage you from trying something new. It would be a breath of fresh air from the usual teams you see in the gulch.

On my Ret Pally (BiS dungeon gear, no BoAs) my biggest heals have been around 1.6k hit, 3.3k crit. The damage is pretty bad only because you need three holy power to use the only ability that deals any respectable damage (Templar's Verdict), and your only holy power generating ability has a 4.5 second cooldown. So I would disagree with medium damage, medium heals and rank them as low damage, strong heals.

72-90 Judgments

80-110 whites

90-130 Crusader Strikes

240-300 TV's

(Full Looms, 124 strength)

All estimated from a run I did inspired by you. The class isn't broken but it's not that good either.

240-300 TV's i'm guessing were full HP's and were these numbers tested against players or mobs?

Players. I read this post, changed my pallies spec and played a game so I could give you accurate feedback.

I found myself going enhancement on my shaman and while the damage isnt very good its still a fun class and ret seems to be on about the same weight lenght along with spriests above fury warriors.

The numbers given so far are pretty acturate

100-140 CS but on high armor targets I have seen as low as 70

130ish on judgement

200-330 templars depending on armor of target

something that has not been mention much in this thread is rets' offheal potential. Mana regens fast enough to keep myself topped in a 1v1 or throw crucial heals in a team fight. In my str set I have seen a 3400 FoL crit without battle fatigue. In the right hands these huge heals can turn the tide of a fight.

Overall when I'm playing ret I take more of a support role building holy power and waiting to use templars for when the other team is dipping. Between templars, judgment and CS i can burst around 700 in a few globals (with a little luck) which most people don't expect to come from a ret
So even despite the seemingly low damage output, rets CAN be viable if played right

This is a ss from one of the games a did as ret that shows the potential damage output, albeit I did have a pocket healer
