On aerie peak, you roll an OP class such as a hpal/druid. The other side cant beat you by any conventional means so they roll 24. You premade with 5 people such as druid/holy paladin/rogue. to beat on a lone 24..Then 24s start rolling premades, then it essentially becomes an arms race who is more OP.
Hi. I don't know you, so I don't know if there's any actual benefit to engaging in logical debate with you, but the logic of the above statement is very flawed. If the true intention were to have balanced games, then the logical response to there being an OP class would be to roll, or encourage friends to roll, the same OP class. That way things are balanced. At no point is it balanced, however, to roll a character that is more OP than any 20, and furthermore is only available to a tiny fraction of the people who play in this bracket. Any 24 you see in this bracket is not trying to balance it (which would involve doing the same thing as "the other side"), but is trying to exploit it.
And I put "the other side" in quotations, because the argument above implies that only one faction rolls what you call OP classes. If both factions are savvy enough to realize that certain classes are OP, then both factions are likely to roll those classes in equal number... thus completely invalidating any argument that it is "necessary" to roll a 24 to "balance" the sides again. Even your argument about AP premades falls into this category, as both factions on Aerie Peak seem to premade the same amount.
Usually, sound logical arguments are used to persuade another to one's point of view. Poor logical arguments however are often used to attempt to justify or defend an otherwise indefensible action. And attempting to justify an indefensible action with poor logic kind of insults your intended audience by presuming that they aren't clever enough to see a fallacious argument or a false conclusion.
In short, some people will always choose to be jerks and take advantage of other people. It only adds insult to that injury to try to tell those people that they deserve it. If one is going to be a jerk, they should just own it and be unabashed about it. Either way, people will know you're a jerk, but at least they could respect you being honest about it.
the people who built AP's reputation for the most part dont play the bracket anymore or dont play on AP. so 10man APs losing to pugs isnt news.
Being one of the key people who you are referring to, I would step in and say that while I certainly agree that the faces have changed in the year that I've been gone, I certainly feel like I have already in my short time back met quite a number of friendly and capable people. Myself, Earl, Rhaellia, and the other founders you refer to did have a certain compatible personality that made our game greater than the sum of its constituent parts, that is true. I believe, however, from what I've already seen of today's crew, that the potential for the same is still here--in fact they may already have it and I just haven't been observing long enough yet. I wouldn't totally dismiss Aerie Peak just yet; we still have some fire in us and we're still adding new wood to the flames every day.
