Would you ever consider selling your twink-account?

    • Today I thought about this - would I ever be in so desperate need of money that I would sell something I've spent around six years of constant playing on? The answer, I concluded, would be no. I figured to myself that I'd rather be starving for a month, than to get rid of something with so much sentimental value.

    Have you ever sold an account? Why did you sell it? Do you regret doing it?

    I've thought about it... but it's not really about the money - more of a forced moving on. Almost eight years of countless wasted hours. /shudder

    I only play now to hang out wid RL fwiends (who I am trying to convince to embrace pvp with no luck).
     
    People offered me 500 euro for my gf'd 19 priest wich makes me wonder how much more i could earn from my p2p accounts with all these twinks on it and rare items.

    Things like this makes me considder doing it when i'm certain that i will quit wow. But that day is not now and i wouldn't do it for the money but simply to close the wow part of my life and make other players happy with some gold and all this gear i have stocked up in vaults haha :)
     
    I sold my 29 priest for $550. Of course he was fully Gf'd. But its a bracket that rarely gets pops and I rerolled a horde and ally 29 priest before the pre patch so I at least got that round of grandfathering in. I finished building an awesome computer with the money so I have no regrets. Ill remember him fondly though.
     
    I would for the right price. That price would be very high however.
     
    As much as I hold sentimental value for the twinks I made, I would sell them for the right price, if I thought I could do more good with the money than I could with the twinks. But gads, that would have to be a great price.
     
    I was not so long ago offered 300 euro (about 450$) for moving my twink to another guys account.
    300 euro sure is much for a 17 year old, but on second hand - is 62 days of playtime ( /played ), doubleglaives, most tier sets etc. really worth it?

    I asked how he wanted to do it, as i didn't know you could move characters. He asked me to add his skype, but i just ignored his whispers..
    .. That resulted in a Permanent Ban, but due to my pro whining, i got it back :D

    Funny sig, made me laugh, only oldskoolers would understand carrot on a stick.
     
    Think about what some of these toons are worth just in terms of work and time. Sure not every moment playing your account is dedicated to improving its actual monetary value, but if you look at it from an economical standpoint, think about how much of YOUR time has been put into this.

    Now, I'm not saying this is what these accounts or characters are worth, just putting some numbers out there. Let's say you have 60 days played on one of your twinks. If you worked 60 days at a minumum wage job in the U.S., you would make
    (60 days)x(24 hours)=1440 hours
    (1440 hours)x(7.25$ -minimum wage US)=10,440$
    So, if you value your time to be worth that of a minimum wage job, the amount of work you put into your twink would be 10,440$, disregarding sentimental value. Clearly this account or character would only be worth that to the original owner, but it's just something to think about. You can either be depressed or intrigued by it, just thought it made for an interesting point.
