Level 1 mage twink

Rina

Legend
Hello all.
I'm making a level 1 mage twink and was wondering if you could give me any tips?
Anything is helpful from gear and enchants to play style.

Thanks,
Rina

You would probably wanna go for Int enchants since your mana regen is crazy already.
OT: I feel like I know you from wowparadox.... >.>"

How did that server end up anyway? I left once they transferred to arena addicts....

Yeah, same really. I never spent much time in game anyway though - Mostly just forums.

Back on topic - I was wondering on peoples thoughts of best weapons to use?
Staff or some kind of 1h with medicine bag (If so, which 1h weapon considering that mage can't use maces)

Which 1H doesn't matter, but I've always ran with 1H & 22int/Medicine Pouch. I've heard that 30SP is pretty nice right now. Either way, you should start out with a pouch, and then switch to a staff when you've lost 100hp if you're going with a 2H.

Are there any 1h weapons I can use that give me stam, int or SP? Or are they all just white damage variations?

Just thought I'd add a Chardev for you to view. I feel this is the BiS for a Level 1 Mage Twink, but If I'm wrong on anything, please do correct me. Feedback, theorycrafting and suggestions on what to correct are greatly appreciated.

chardev 10 - Mist of Pandaria - BETA

Note: Chardev is atleast broken for me and won't allow me to select certain professions. As a Mage, you will want 150 Herbalism for the Haste and 150 Skinning for the extra Crit.

Of course, there are many different enchants and a couple of different trinket choices you could go for. I'll list what I can think of below.

Firstly the Weapon Chain on the Battleworn Thrash Blade could be swapped out for either 22 Intellect or 30 Spell Power. 22 Intellect provides 22 SP + 3% Crit, however 30 SP gives 30 SP.

Next, you have the choice of which enchant you want to use on the Tattered Dreadmist Robe. You have a choice between 100 Health or +4 to All Stats. It all depends on what you want to go for. If you are going for maximum Health, you would use the 100 HP enchant. For PvE and / or PvP, I would personally select +4 to all stats.

Same as above, you have to pick between Health or SP / Intellect. Personally, I'd take the SP over Intellect for PvE / PvP and use have a second set of Waterlogged Cloth Bracers with +90 HP in your bags for a maximum Health set.

Next you have to choose an enchant for your boots. Theres really no BiS enchant as they all have there uses in different situations. I'd personally carry x4 Waterlogged Cloth Boots on me at all times. 1 pair with 8% Movement Speed for general combat kiting and travels, 1 pair with 5 Hit Rating for higher level mob encounters and / or higher level duels, 1 pair with +4% Mounted Movement Speed (only if you have a Sea Turtle / Riding Turtle) and last of all, 1 pair with +70 Health for your maximum Health set.

Last of all, you have to decide which trinkets you will be using. For max DPS, you would use x2 Swift Hand of Justice. For PvP, you would normally want 1x Inherited Insignia of the Horde and x1 Arena Grand Master, however this is only if your opponent has a stun, fear, root, etc. If the opponent doesn't or you're a human (Every Man for Himself) you can either use x2 Arena Grand Master, 1x Arena Grand Master and 1x Swift Hand of Justice, etc. For the maximum Health set, you will want 2x Arena Grand Master.

Hope that covers it all. If you have any corrections / further questions, please feel free to ask me / alert me. Goodluck with your Mage.

Damn man, thanks for that awesome, in-depth post. Appreciate it, helps loads!
Quick question:
Are the haste trinkets at all helpful? I mean, it's only 1 haste but is that much worse than 1 int?

Well say for PvE, you would want to kite and cast your bolts and get the slow up as fast as possible - there the 1 haste would be better. If it's a low-level mob I guess AGM is better but if the mob is so good that it 3shots you either way, I doubt AGM makes a difference - Haste does. For intellect it depends on which class you're playing against I guess. I still prefer kiting over damage though.

Corrections:

Haste trinkets > Int trinkets

7 stam to boots not 5 for hp set, although you should have speed for kiting.

Why does you chardev have leatherworking proff?
