Healing addons?

So if Im correct this cast FoL on your mouseover?

I aint that familiar with mouseovers, but if Im right, you bind to a key, lets say 1 on your keyboard. But it will only work if you have a mouseover, so you need to mouseover, either a frame in raid frames (dunno if it works that way) or a freindly player, and then press 1, meaning you will have to use both your keyboard and your mouse, instead of only mouse with HealBot?

Grid and use mouse over macros with all your spells. Some people have listed a lot of add ons here so if that is what you are going to do, I suggest you start with 1 or 2 and get used to them first. Going with a full UI revamp will leave you more confused than anything else. Get used to a couple and then move down the list when you feel comfortable.

I downloaded grid yesterday because of this thread and after a lot of tweaking I have it set up the way I want to. I really like it. I won't give any of my trade secrets with a few of the things I did to customize it or anything but I'll relay some of my experience...

I've always hated mouseover macros, to me that just makes it similar to healbot which I explained doesn't work for me. I'm just using the old click and heal, self target macros and focus target macros. Grid works similar to blizzard ui, and I have it set up to give me more information than I could on the bliz ui. Some basic things like low mana warnings for the raid, a warning when someone needs a new fort.. I've also had it set up so I can see if someone is hojed, sapped, cs'd etc and it shows a icon timer for it. There are other things I've also done that I'm not about to give away. These 'warnings' are all coded by a colour or an icon you choose and added to a persons heal bar. You are also able to d/l addons to customize it further if theres a particular function that you feel isn't being met..

This addon, if customized properly can really give you an advantage. Its a pain though and you have to know what you want.. So I really only recommend it for dedicated healers. If you do go with grid for raid frames, I suggest you watch a youtube video on how to set it up simply first, as it is really confusing. I probably spent 2 hours setting up mine. If anyone goes with grid and has a few questions, feel free to inbox me and I'll see if I can help you out.

I just came to think of something..
I dont get how you guys are tunneling when using Healbot. Healbot aint different from for instant Blizzard UI.
To know when to heal, you watch Blizzard UI, press the raid frame then press your healing spell.
On HealBot, you do the same, you know when to heal, when you see the bars flashing, or when you know that one of your teammates will be/are being attacked, then you press your healing spell?

I'll try to explain lol.
Healbot is more like 'mouseover' meaning your mouse has to hover over the target frame in order to be able to cast. It doesn't hold a target so you have to keep moving your mouse back more often. If you're prehealing, ideally you have your target already selected. You can set it up so healbot holds a target, but in thats another button to press. While I preheal, I have a target i suspect might be targeted, but i tend to keep my mouse in the middle of the screen in case there is another target (I click their toon, then i don't have to determine the name).

If i keep my mouse over by healbot because I have to babysit it more its harder to move. I have to babysit because I have to flash, bubble and possibly renew in three mouseovers instead of holding my target and casting these while moving... Because i'm a dedicated healer, i will likely do several flashes. With blizzard like frames I could hold the target, cast these and easily move.

When it comes down to it, I am so use to healing with raid frames I almost simultaneously target and cast my spell at the same time. Because of this, its not worth overcomplicating things and sacrificing my movement.

That being said, while its more of a pve addon, it can be useful for druids hots. Druids tend to be the class that like healbot more.

When it comes to healing, I would suggest keeping things as clean and simple as possible. The less add-ons the better. Healing charts mean as much as the damage and/or KB charts so you shouldn't be checking out your healing done. Use battleground targets and set the opposing team's main ranged dps as your focus and preheal his target with your longer duration heal. If your heals are effective and you are smart about conserving mana (using your longer cast heals very often) you may not be number one on the healing charts (which hold no value whatsoever), but you will remain at 60% mana while the FoL spammer will be oom ;)

So I'd have to say Blizzard's UI isn't terrible and Battleground Targets, setting your Focus, Glatiatorlossa, and mouseover macros are the only things you'll really need until you decide you would like to try a different raid frames add-on if you feel it necessary to upgrade.

Merely suggestions and recommendations :)

Cheers!

When is comes to grid and mouse over macros, I like just not having to target who I'm healing. It's not needed. Grid will let you customize it so that you can see all you need to see about that person on the grid ( Weakened Soul debuff, Earth Shield, etc ) The add ons you can get for Grid are also very helpful but maybe not as helpful for 19s. On my 85s I have a grid add ons that gives me extra side and corner icons so that my 85 healers can see every heal on a player ( I'll see a priest shield, shaman earth shield, druid hots + lifebloom, pally beacon, etc ) which is extremely helpful in a raiding environment. But for my 19 I have class colors enabled and a few tweaks so I can see what I feel is necessary to see. Going from a clicking healer to mouse over can be tricky to adjust to but in the end I just feel that it makes you a more efficient healer.

Great Read! :)

Im sorryy but im having a hard time understanding these mouseover macros.
For me it seems that if you use Grid and mouseover macros, you hold your mouse over a player in Grid, and press your keybind 4 (which then will be bound to a mouseover macro casting FoL for instance). Is this right?

if u heal someone using healbot and have a rogue on u with gouge ready gl spinning

with grid+clique if u mouseover a frame and press your keybind u cast the spell on that target yes

and unless your rightclick is bound to some spell u can also actually turn around without moving your mouse from the frames

idk how to explain just try it out if u dont get it

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][] Flash of Light

One of the mouse over macros I use. Replace the end spell with whatever healing spell of your class.

I know the macros, just didnt know how you would use them combined with Grid/raid frames, but I do now! Thanks :)
