19 Hunter - BM v Survival

For ALL you Hunters out there. I noticed that the majority of you are Survival. I wanted to open a discussion about the 2 specs. I know that the Survival Spec gives you and extra burst Shot, but what about aall the Attack Power BM gives, does that not make up for it? The periodic healing, and the Stun off your pet? Im open to your guys opinions about it, I am going to test out BM this next week on my Hunter. I have already played as Survival and love it, but i want to change things up a bit.

The attack power does not make up for the extra burst damage Explosive Shot provides and the loss of crit gained from the agility. Also, the pet stun is very unreliable since pets are so easily avoided/killed.

Surival if you wanna destroy the bracket, Beast Mastery if you wanna do a diffrence even tho ur a huntard.

Well my "Huntard" isn't my main Twink. I am still going to try BM, and thank you Pizza for that info.

Yeah, give it a shot! You'll never know if you like it unless you try it. ;)

This. Pizza is correct.

However, I play BM quite often and I find it very fun. The skill cap is quite a bit higher than survival, and so I am going to advise you to play survival for a while before playing BM. If you play BM and are clueless on how to play a hunter, you will fare badly and will only be a burden to your team.

Adding on to what Pizza has said, I would say BM has situational burst. For example, BM in mid is quite frustrating if you're used to the burst of survival. However in closed up spots, such as near bases, BM excels with the additional CC (best spec for 1v1 also imo). Also you'd be surprised at the auto shot and Arcane shot crits you get with the additional AP. Kill Command crits are an entire different story; I'd say they're the meat of BM hunters (we're talking almost 50% crit chance and they crit for around 700 on cloth-wearers).

Having good pet control (one of the things I thank playing BM for -- improving my pet control greatly) is a must and the Intimidation + Kill Command combo can be game changing. I'd also like to note how disc priests can beat (or should) survival hunters in 1v1, but when I play BM I can squish them with relative ease. That makes returning flags so much easier.

My advice: play the faceroll spec (Survival) for a while until you have a good grasp on hunter and then play BM if it doesn't hurt your team.

Thank you Sneaky, I have played Survival for a pretty good time, so i have the basic understanding of the Huntard, When i test the BM out in PvP i will fall back and stay to be Defensive, rather than going into the mid like all the other Hunters. I know BM is gunna be a challenge since they only have 1 main Shot which is Arcane, and just keep up Serpant Shot, but for sure the Hunters main DMG Dealer would be the Kill Command, my Cat has been hitting for 600+ sometimes, and like Pizza said before, yes, its easy for the other player to kill your cat, but noone really thinks about it, they just mainly go for killing the Huntard.

Are there any suggestions about the Pet to get? I currently have Humar the Pridelord, because a guildy said Cats hit the hardest and the fastest.
