    philosophy is gay anyways

Life is a meandering traipse of of nothingness. Don't get me started on the dichotomy of life and death...

    do you fear opposing opinions

No, why all the hate from you? I chose to give up on the thread because, as you can see, the first couple comments were garbage, which made me think people weren't interested in the topic. To answer your other angry posts, I'm not pretentious, I'm just trying to have interesting discussions.

By the way, why do you assume you knew that the topic of my post was pretentious when all you saw was the fucking title? It had nothing to do with existentialism or any of that shit, I don't believe in the metaphysical and the topic had nothing to do with my life. I was actually just interested in the leaps in personality you see at certain ages, like when a teenager "becomes a man" and whatnot. Like if you all thought these changes in personality were genetic and destined to happen at certain ages or if societal pressure to grow up turns someone "into a man".

I find it ironic that you didn't even see the topic I posted before I deleted it and assumed I was a pretentious philosophical pussy when that assumption itself is the only pretentious thing I see here. TL;DR: I posted something meaningful (and not lofty at all) instead of "get high fuck bitches", removed it, and got criticized by someone who never read the post.

turning "into a man" is an abstract societal convention, not genetic
    hitting puberty is genetic

    still gay

i read your posts, they are silly and not very interesting, even if life had stages(which it doesn't) it would be a boring discussion

i find philosophy more interesting to talk about when it deals with things like nihilism or solipsism, the more scary the better

I don't know that people's mentalities are limited to what others tell them. I think the mind develops predictably because of genetics. Is it just a coincidence that every young man becomes more world weary around the same age? No. Even if you are isolated to your own thoughts and have basically no social interaction (I'll admit, like me. Quote that if you like), you'll still develop the same lines of thought as other people your age without coming into contact with them. I think that's fascinating, because that means there was evolutionary benefit to having these lines of thinking around certain ages for whatever reason.

Also, if you partake in something you consider gay, you're gay by your own standards.

I know talking about "stages of life" sounds childish at first, but actually think about it scientifically for a minute. There are definitely points in your life when your thoughts begin to change, like the stereotype that young men are loose cannons and sometimes go over the edge with society-hating and choose to become hermits (like the book "Into The Wild"). If you imagine this line of thinking from an evolutionary perspective, when you are in your prime as a young man you are at the perfect age to become independent and restless. I don't know how you don't find the fact that everyone's views change according to their age isn't interesting, but fuck you too :p.

Anyway, you could call me a big nihilist myself. I made a post that was basically about moral nihilism like a few weeks ago. Whatever. This is why I was trying to let the thread die, because I'm the only one who found it interesting.

you cant look into every humans head and tell they all think along the same lines you do.
everyones views certainly dont change with age, especially not at a certain age or even range. perhaps many people around you do because your similar environments, but you cant extrapolate that to the whole population

im just telling you what it is, not partaking in your philosophy dribble. so im still straight

booooring let's talk about how the tigers are 1 1/2 games in the lead baby how about that for stages

back when i had friends I was talking to one after he got out of harvard after he did some acid and yelled at food to obey him he broke down human history into 3 things for me... big bang, pyramids, google. I imagine the stages in life work something like that... birth, everything sucks 1-24, adulthood begins 25-30, death.
