Southsea Pirates: Exalted with Gadgetzan, Booty Bay & Everlook!

Imirak

Legend
Wow, this was a long grind. I wasn't planning on doing it in such a compressed fashion, but it's been a great place to farm charms for the "Love is in the Air" event and I'm working on my 11th attempt at the Black Dress :/

Anyway, has any other F2P reached Exalted with these factions yet?

By killing the pirates on Fray Island in the Barrens or south of Hardwrench Hideaway in Stranglethorn.

Anyway, congratulations, Imirak. That's something like 16,000 pirates killed, isn't it?

Thanks. I just turned in another 200 charms to get a Dress Box.... RED DRESS

GD it. I am 0 for 11 now. This is ridiculous. Maybe I'll farm for the Crimson Whelp on the subsequent attempts.

As an aside, my "Got My Mind on my Money" achievement progressed from 19 gold to 45 gold. Yes, I killed enough pirates to loot 26 gold at maybe 20-25 copper apiece?

I'm guessing it's about 10-12 thousand Pirates. You can shorten it somewhat by ensuring that Cap'n Garvey stays dead. He's worth as much rep as 5 normal pirates and spawns about 3 times faster. So, over the course of the normal Pirate respawns, he's worth 15 Pirates.

I admire your patience! For me Fray Island is more fun than the Crown goons, but I'm bored of it anyway. Switching to SI:7 Assassins and Stormpike Soldiers now to liven things up.

If you don't loot, then the Fray Island pirates don't spawn fast enough to keep killing them. Also, if you are there, the named NPC gives five times the standard rep, and then there's the racial and holiday bonuses to rep. I got my Bloodsail rep to unfriendly, which is the lowest you can have it to prevent them attacking you, and then got BB back to neutral, getting Ratchet to revered in the process.

Grinding out 24s to exalted sounds like a pain to me and I have no immediate plans to do it. I'm currently trying to convince a level 1 to rep grind with me in a group with a high level actually killing things for us, but it seems like too much hassle to do on my own.

You can also kill goblins near ZG to get your rep up, without hurting your rep with Bloodsail, if anyone is interested in doing that. I find fishing a lot easier without half the coast trying to attack me.

I'm switching to Ebon Whelps now. They drop two different pets :p
If you're Horde and don't have the mechanical squirrel, I'd recommend the mine in Hillsbrad Foothills. They're a bit lower-level than the whelps and also drop the black tabby cat (along with most of the other world-drop profession recipes we can use...21+ mobs don't usually drop <101 skill level recipes). My farming there is only limited by how fast I regenerate energy.

Here's a list of mobs where you can get some two-for-one pet farming done (the last two obviously need p2p help...and the dungeons aren't really good for farming charms.):
  1. Defias Pirates in Dead Mines: Mechanical Squirrel and Green Wing Macaw.
  2. Hillsbrad Sentry and Hillsbrad Miner in Hillsbrad Foothills: Mechanical Squirrel and Black Tabby Cat.
  3. Some mobs in Wailing Caverns (although the pets aren't dropped by the same mobs): Mechanical Squirrel and Deviate Hatchling.
  4. Most mobs in the Stranglethorn zones: Razzashi Hatchling and Hyacinth Macaw.
  5. Ebon Whelps in Wetlands: Dark Whelpling and Crimson Whelpling.
  6. Silty Oozling and Black Ooze in Wetlands: Disgusting Oozeling and Crimson Whelpling.
  7. Noxious Whelps in Feralas: Emerald Whelpling and Sprite Darter Hatchling.
  8. Coldlurk Burrower, Dimensional Ooze, and Boiling Springbubble in Winterspring: Disgusting Oozeling and Azure Whelpling.

The mine is awesome, especially as I tend to just wander away from the keyboard and won't return to find myself dead there. :)

That's a great list, thanks! I'll probably hit up the oozeling first, then do the mines.

Imirak, did you loot at all? ...and if you did loot, did you get the Deckhands Shirt at all? I grinded for that, but never got it to drop.

Yes, I looted so that I could progress the "Got My Mind on the Money" achievement (26g!) and hope for a mechanical squirrel drop.

Never saw the Deckhand shirt or the squirrel schematic.

I threw away literally dozens of Giant Growth and Savory Delight recipes. About 3-4 Agility elixir recipes dropped (banked 1) and maybe a dozen Swiftness recipes (also kept 1).
