pros and cons of f2p community.

I also came from another sever, it was hell but at the same time, you have nothing to lose. When I went for AGM I didn't worry about stepping on toes but at AP I do. I understand for some this would be a non-issue but for me it is.

Other then that, coming to AP is what kept me playing. It wasn't winning or losing, it was lookin' forward to playing the game with the same cool people each day :)

Edit: Forgot a con: Paying players (some, not all) hate you cause you don't pay.

Just don't roll AP thinking you'll be premading 24/7. Premades are pretty sporadic for the most part with horde having more activity than alliance.

I can speak to this as an ex-AP f2p.

Community is cool because you can chat and hook up. Arena and premades are only possible with a consistent group of f2p and some p2p assisting.

The problem with f2p community is that there is no good way to discourage antisocial behavior. Players who might be "sorta jerks" would seldom really act out in a p2p setting because they wouldn't want to get booted out of their guild. Even if a GM and officers are jerks, the players leave to create a new guild. With no guild structure to enforce behavior in f2p, drama is extreme, trolls are empowered, and elitism rules.

I miss a few specific friends from horde AP, but a couple flaming asshats poorly behaved players ruined it for me on AP. I rolled a pile of new toons on other servers and put AGMs on everybody. There are f2p players everywhere and I can always find a few friends. I might give some gear and spec tips and help out with a quest occasionally, but mostly its solo play. That works for me because my play schedule is erratic. I might get to play 20 hours on a weekend and get a couple hours on week nights, then go weeks without getting to log in. I used to GM a raiding guild, and I still have p2p friends who will give me a hand if I need it.

I did find that pugging horde is bad more often than good. It seriously takes almost zero effort to gear an alliance toon decently, but days of work to put adequate gear on a horde toon. That means that many horde pugs are loaded with severely undergeared toons. I mostly played horde in the AP days, but pug alli more often now.

i've seen like 4 arguments total in f2p chat, and none of them lasted longer than a few minutes, and all of them were resolved successfully. there are no people on AP who exhibit "anti-social" behavior to the point where it is even remotely bothersome or a hindrance to pvping or the community.

on the contrary, the body of f2p players on AP is made up of ridiculously nice, un-selfish people with an almost angelic aura of altruism. we had a player write several mods so that we could speak in our own channel and queue up together. we have lots of players who generously leave their p2p accounts logged on as invite bots so f2p players can group themselves at any time. we have a player (spore) who is so unbelievably nice that he has run a few dozen players through to exalted with several factions, and also camps chests on AP and notifies f2p players when a blue drops so they can come get it.

people are premading on AP horde almost 24/7. there's even oftentimes more than 1 premade going on simultaneously because some people like AB and some people like WSG.

i swear to god, you people just make up fantasy scenarios in your head for fun

I swear, some of the new people on AP are so clueless. They log in and say "Any Premades?!" "Can I get an inv to a premade?". Do you know what Mialu, one of the vets, says when he logs in? "Lets get some premades going!" It is ridiculous. There are p2ps on a lot, like a majority of the time. Take the initiative and start one yourself. It's not like it's hard to simultaneously queue 5 players at the dame time and make sure you all got into the same wsg before going in. In fact, there's an addon just for it!

If you log on @ 3 AM server, you will be able to 5 man premade if the people who are online want to pvp. It's that easy.

qft

I was on horde today messing around

19 people online

15 of them premadeing.

Nuff said

So wait, that really was you? I thought it was some random imposter, I had no idea you were that bad.

Thats funny, we had zero bgs together, and I had 2 days worth of gear after not playing MMOs for over a year. I feel so bad at your lack of acknowledgement lol

Dude, do you remember when we used to afk you out of 19s? I loved watching your little goggled gnome sprint to the nearest horde to try and get in combat.

I can safely say that literally NEVER happened. Why on earth would you lie about something so basic? Holy shit youre retarded. No wonder your brackets are dead, theyre populated by idiots such as yourself. Back on topic: this is what youre in for with the F2P community.

You're overestimating the availability of P2Ps to prove a non-existent point.

He does not, in fact i've got macro for it to people know the difference. Thanks to Yasueh it goes simply like this when somebody talks in channel

1.f2ptwink p2p

1_f2ptwink f2p

Then since friend list update itself (once again, thx to Yasueh), any character over lvl 20 is p2p

People are just lazy to look up their friend list. All they do is ask Any p2p online, and then proceed to log off if nobody responds. Things to realize however:

1. P2p folks are either leaving their accounts up for f2p to use even if they already left computer

2. Some p2p are playing f2p at same time, and when in WSG in the heat of battle, they simply dont have time to alt tab and reply on said p2p toon

3. Some p2p are farming chests and often go afk while flying over whole continent only to check on whispers later when they land (that would be me)

Solution:

- Do not whisper asking for invite, addon was built specifically to work from f2p side only, just whisper "inv" and if you happen to see there's already somebody using it when you join group, simply leave and try again in 30 sec. This is probably the most important thing to remember because of AFK issue described above. P2p's don't bite, no need to apologize. If p2p don't want to offer group services, there's simple command for that to turn F2PI off so when you whisper "inv" it will tell you addon is currently disabled.

- Learn who the p2p's are (write the names down) and i'm sure within a week or two you'll have sufficient amount of them to see at least one on at any given time.

- Check your channel to display class color, most high lvls are DK's so you see that dark red, you know you can use addon

EDIT: grammar, early in the morning with no prior coffee o_O

I have a f2p.

Pros: Us 24s can kill everyone.

Cons: F2Ps troll and whine because they don't realise they are playing a sample of a game.
