(The Ambassador(Got the ambassador legit before cata)

Well i see in cata u can get rep in instances ?! But that isn't in anyway easyer? In wotlk you could turn cloth in for about 3-4k gold and u had abassador? Why is it easyer in cata really cant see it who would spend doing 50+ instances if not 100+ on getting that title? Why is it that easyer in cata?

i've never even heard this before. getting run through stocks = non legit? maybe if someone was crazy enough to actually buy the commendations with 30 flipping marks of the world tree for like 250 rep each? (which i doubt) lol...

Some people got it by questing and world events. Even still, they would have probably faction changed, which is far from legit, and a new Blizz, casual, easymode method, just like the tabards are today.

tabard = easymode method? i mean yea with a group of twinks its easily faster than questing but you're still grinding the rep...

Chen's. Empty. Keg. I never want to hear the name of that quest again.

I just remember begging, borrowing and farming runecloth during vanilla/BC just to get exalted with Orgrimmar on my tauren shaman just so I wouldn't have to ride that dang Kodo....

Lots and lots of runecloth. Thank god that was before achievements, else I would have been completely screwed lol.

At least its not as bad as Insane in the Membrane has become, they took out one of the toughest reps to grind and are making darkmoon easier too

I got ambassador by doing every alli quest then race changing and doing every horde quest

Long grind but least I can say I got it legit

lol....legit is a matter of your opinion, which imo...is faulty. prior to faction changes only a horde 19 without faction changing could get ambassador....legit and a hell of a grind. under the current system doing quests and using tabards thru DF's is legit.

paying $30 and doing more quests of another faction...yeah

Regardless what the popular opinion is, getting it "the legit way" was harder and deserves respect. In the next patch they could make it easy to get guardian of cenarus, and the people that got it the "legit" way will be remembered for doing so, nothing more and nothing less. The toon is not worth more because you did it the harder route, but earning your title from running stocks is far from an achievement.

having your player ran using higher levels for guardian of cenarius is legit?

if they make rep easier to gain in 4.3 and still having your player run using higher levels for guardian of cenarius is not legit?

damm...i think i get it now

huh? you could only turn in like 2 quests of cloth(It had a cap). Back in WOTLK you had to faction change for it. I was one of the first people to get it. Took round 300-600hrs. You basically had to do every quest available plus Lunar festival. It took fucking forever. It's so easy to get it now. Rokay you get it now?

Technically, it depended on wether you had an old toon that had done a lot of Quests before spill-over Rep worked or not, on wether you did a year's worth of World Events or not, and on wether you were Horde or Alliance (Horde had the Chen Quests Rivfader fondly remembers ;P and the Gnomeregan pre-event - unlike the Echo Isle event - didn't give you Rep. If the later had, Ambassador on a Human might have just been possible in one year with better planning).

The issue was that before the Tabard system, the number of Quests was limited and hence the amount of Rep you could get was limited, meaning that the lower the level of a toon, the more content you would need to have cleared.

In practical terms, this meant that if a Human did all Quests and Events of a year, at 19 it wasn't possible yet at 20 it was, though this meant e.g getting all the Elders and Drop-Quests in the game; with other Alliance races & less Elders I got the title around level 23. In all cases it was Gnomeregan Rep which was the issue (and why the prevent not getting you any Rep - at least till teh costume reward - was so annoying).

You could get acces to more Quests- and hence more Rep rewards - by buying additional game content in the form of Faction changing. If you did all Ally quests at 18, you could get Ambassador as Hordie by doing only a couple of zones, which is why I tried it again on a level 10 Human Twink some time before the Shattering.

With all Ally Quests available done (though not fully all Events, as e.g. getting all Elders on a 19 was work enough, though admittedly my opposition to baby-sitting obviously did play a role) and the Horde Quests (except the Chen cases) I missed a couple of hundreds on Trolls and about 600 on Belfs if memory serves right when the Shattering happened. Yawning through the new Troll Quests and killing stuff in RFC because Silvermoon nowadys is greatly concerned with happenings therein (at least if you wear their ads; otherwise they don't give a damn) got me the Title.

Note that this also illustartes one of the reasons why at least on some servers 'Ambassador' on a low-level toon had 'meaning': it showed you had pretty much done most if not all the content available, and hence people would ask you advice on things.

Bottom line is that the Ambassador Title already was a bit 'iffy' once the unlimited Runecloth turn-ins became available to a toon (which had their purpose when introduced but were superfluous once spill-over Rep and other schemes appeared) , and the new Tabard system made it a lot easier to get the Title without a need to see a lot of the content, and the fact that the Tabards make no difference whatsoever on wether you're getting boosted or not has driven the final nail into the coffin - which is a pitty, there already were so few non-babysitting Titles available as it stood.

This. I can guarantee there are several toons that got the title using Runecloth turn ins. Those who got it PRIOR to Runecloth turnins, grats. But during the time you could hit exalted just with cloth it was retardedly easy and FAR easier than now with the Tabards.

Repeat cloth turn ins aren't available to 19s. Only way to get Ambassador pre faction change was by doing chen's empty keg repeatedly for 67 horde rep per repeat. I had almost got ambassador (coulpe thousand away from SMC exalted) this way before I decided to faction for alliance-only gear before the shattering removed it and ended up getting ambassador with the faction.

Honestly no one got it legit (myself included), but I did feel a little more special running around with it before the tabards came out.

Also keep in mind anyone 1-14 cannot que for random dungeon finder and therefore has the same problem as before, requiring a higher level toon to run them through instances repeatedly for rep with the Tabard (or repeated twink Guild runs). I will agree 15+ it's much easier with the Tabards. And I also agree not one person could have done it 100% legit as in only solo, no help from a higher level toon EVER, but as I said mad props to those who did it prior to cloth turn ins or Tabards.
