"Servere" Moderation of 24's in F2P Forum

I know I saw this when the forum first got its overhaul. There was mention of severely moderating the 24s who come to the F2P forum to spew negative and cause nothing but trouble.

I have seen a few threads locked, and a few posts by Mods telling them not to do it. However, these "people" still post daily/weekly in the F2P forums, specifically talking about 24s or other things not related to F2P at all.

When will this stop? They are in a clear violation of the forum rules, why just a slap on the wrist (if that)? I understand there is a lot for the mods here to do, but this seems easy enough to me to take care of. A 24 hour ban (c wut i did there?) first, then 3ish days, etc etc.

Simply put, they are trolling the F2P forums in a blatant manner, clogging up any of the real topics F2P players may post. I'm just hoping something is done sooner rather than later.

Thanks to everyone who makes this community possible!

To be fair... f2p's are posting in those same threads instead of just reporting them.

It takes more than the troll to successfully troll.

I agree, and some of the F2P's are just as bad with their responses. I'm not saying the F2P players who respond with all caps in a derogatory way shouldn't be punished though. Breaking the rules is breaking the rules. If they aren't enforced, there is no "incentive" if you will to follow the rules, and the board will go to ruins.

Thanks for the reply Inkobah. With the report function, is that an easy way to flag the mods down to that topic/user? I wasn't really sure of the best action, but if that's the best way to go it is simple enough.

Yes it is the easiest way to flag it for the mods. You're welcome to PM mods as well but by using the report function it flags it for all the moderators and admins.

I'm not saying f2p's are "bad as the trolls themselves." Most of those threads seemed to be created by ppl that are cognitively disabled to the point that they probably couldn't properly use a fork without risk of serious injury. However, that doesn't say much for the ppl replying either.

As ink said, use the report function.

But also know, trolls live to be fed by emotional responses... don't feed them.

Ink, I appreciate the fact that not only did that one guy get banned, but apparently all his posts were purged as well. Some of them were definitely over the line and offensive, and I'm glad you guys decided to remove them when you removed him.

I'll definitely use the report function if that should happen again.

I would click the button if I could find it

Im all for some forum drama in the sake of some (un)friendly competition but there's none of that to be had with this. Just pure annoyance.

In the bottom middle of every post is a button that says "Report". It can blend in a bit until you hover over it.

I have:
  • Searched the page text for the word 'Report'.
  • Selected the page contents with Ctrl+A.
  • Looked at the page source with Right Click > View Source.
  • Changed themes to see if it's move visible in the default one.

There is no report button.

Really? I've been reporting posts ever since Ink posted this. The Report button is immediately to the left of the Multiquote and Quote buttons at the end of each post.

No. Immediately to the left of 'Quote' and 'MultiQuote' is a 'Blog This' button. There is nothing to the left of that.

*Scrolls up page to see who else can't find the button*

Yeah, what I thought. Same thing as what happened with just MVPs not being able to change their settings/profile.

Ink, would you mind fixing the MVP group's settings/permission so that they are based off those for a standard user, instead of missing half the features everyone else has?

No. Immediately to the left of 'Quote' and 'MultiQuote' is a 'Blog This' button. There is nothing to the left of that.

Maybe bloggers don't get to report things? *boggle*

Just checked and MVPs don't have the ability to see the report button. We'll get this fixed. In the meantime, you can always contact a member of staff directly through a PM. Anywho, I think this thread is done as it is bordering on discussing disciplinary actions publicly.

i can see the report button, but i guess it may be because im considered staff, cuz of writer status
