Since the old thread is no longer being updated and we have a bunch of new people joining I decided to update it myself.

Below is a list of what can upgrade. it is mainly for Level 10 and 20 twinks, things may vary at other levels due to spaghetti code.

PS: Warforge kinda sucks at low level, usually it doesn't even increase the ilvl

BfA one time rares should be added, they can do socket and tert. Not sure if they can warforge or multi-proc but I don't think I've seen either.

I'm talking blue trash drops like https://www.wowhead.com/item=37799/reanimators-cloak / https://www.wowhead.com/item=1951/blackwater-cutlass / https://www.wowhead.com/item=10413/gloves-of-the-fang and so on.

Can add a small text explaining that.

Green BoEs from dungs will follow the open world BoE drops, so Legion and BFA can proc socket / tert, rest can't.

They can proc below level 10 and above lvl 60 or 70
When you get to level 10 you enter a "leveling" phase of DF
Which makes it so things can't proc

There is no rule which items have base sockets and whcih don't
Generally they come from TBC / WotLK, but not all items there have sockets, some do, some don't

What you can do is use filters on wowhead
https://www.wowhead.com/items?filter=100:166:161;1:2:1;0:0:0 to search for items
This will however show some raid items and quest items we can't get (adding a max lvl req to the filters will remove all dungeon loot since it can scale above that, so it won't be helpful)

Nice job on this -- heres' a few suggestions. May want to add which sources are capable of multiple procs (e.g. Tanaan and Apexis rares can have at most one upgrade). Apexis rares can also not proc socket upgrade for off-hand (sadly). In some cases warforge does not increase ilvl, and may be worth noting. Lastly would be nice to have a table of all the non-BoE cloaks, trinkets and weapons that can proc sockets, as they are the hardest to find.

Ya be right, mon. It be farmin' time for de level 50-61 twinks when de Timeways be Turbulent, least be for de Burning Crusade thru to da Catacylsm. De world bosses don't even be droppin' sockets like de raids mon.

The loot from

The loot from Sha of Anger in Tanaris, specifically, can proc tertiaries for all levels, not that it matters much at this point. Probably an intern ticked the wrong box on this one boss's loot out of the lot. May be worth remembering and re-checking if the gatecrashers make a return in the future. I don't recall seeing a socket, but he does have belts and bracers, so I assume it's possible.

Generally it follows the same as classic / tbc / wotlk / mop

Its only after those xpacks things got weird with different rules.

But since cata zones are lvl 30 and this was for 20s mainly I didnt see a reason to add them

I only asked cause I'm farming SFK atm. While it was originally Classic. It's listed under Cata. Have like 30 attempts thus far and haven't seen any drop "upgrade".
