10 years already!

And levels 20 are still here!

Join us this Thursday at 2:00 PM (CET) for the picture of the year :p

More than 10 players are already registered. We will take a family photo together, and keep a in-game memory of our community for this year.

Join us on EU realms and we'll invite you, no matter the realm you come from!

Was EU on a different release schedule for lv 20 f2p?

I distinctly remember it being 2011 cata summertime June - August timeframe. For NA at least

2011 cata f2p era was a beautiful time, especially early after release.

  • the bracket was relatively unknown. Toxicity was almost non existent. Very little organized p2p premade activity save for the few encounters I had with a few select folks that are still around ;)
  • EDIT: ^ this is because xpoff 19s and 70s were still largely going strong and there really was no reason for those folks to join or investigate the new bracket
  • The most games typically had 2-3 f2p geared twinks on each side
  • A fully geared f2p versus a semi geared leveler, especially in heirlooms (which were more powerful than dungeon gear back then) was way more in line - especially given that f2p couldn’t really have good enchants.
  • Surv hunters were powerful, but didn’t have the survivability to outlast a decent healer
  • There was a great incentive to pvp to gear up for honor -> jp conversion for heirlooms. It took a while but was rewarding along the way, especially for spell casters.
  • Dungeons were a semi challenge, with ambitious early f2p video makers taking on solo challenges
  • Overall gearing and pvp was very rewarding
I’m sure I have some rose colored nostalgia glasses. But I’d go back to cata f2p in a second.

If one day Cataclysm Classic is announced, I sign up immediately. Would love to go back to good old times with my lvl20 rogue.

one could pray and hope. Given the way accounts work now, it’s feasible that veteran accounts might become baseline for a cata classic release? Who knows.

There is "French Moderator" under your photo/tag.
Thats why I never joined the community. I though you are all french-talkers :D Are you?

WoW20 is both a EU and US community, not a French community

But it's true that my first F2P community was a French-speaking community, back in 2011. It lasted until 2018-2019

The "French Moderator" title was given by Conq on my profile. I've never removed it because when I joined XPOff, I was active as moderator. So I kept this title as memory
