PoD drops in TBC?

Hey guys.

I was wondering if anyone know if PoD still drops from the mobs inside of Uldaman or was the loot table switched with classic TBC launch?
I've been hearing conflicting things about only dropping from lvl40+ mobs, so bosses. And others saying it'll still drop from the Stonevault lvl38-39 mobs in there.

That might've been the case with a glitch later on (Cata+).

What happened is that either with 2.0 or even prior with some Vanilla patch (fuck, honestly don't remember anymore) the levels of instance mobs were reduced by a bit and the way it worked/works (?, dunno could be fucking hardcoded now for all Blizztard's capable of these days) is that certain items are assigned level ranges corresponding to their required level which is 39 in the case of the PoD.
While previously more mobs of Uldaman were level 39 or above after the change only a select few now are, thus drastically reducing the amounts of mobs that can drop it and in turn increasing the items rarity.

So if I'm understanding correctly the mobs with PoD on the loot table have to be lvl39 in order for it to be able to drop?
And yes, with TBC coming out the mobs were reduced to be 38 or 39 instead of 43-45

If memory serves, yes.

I never remember a confirmed drop after the level change to instances in the original expansion. I think after all this time it is safe to assume it either doesnt drop, or at best drops from a handful of mobs. There were also unconfirmed reports of PoD dropping from the chest at the end of the instance.

if my garbage memory serves me correctly, this is the case. It's something like 10 mobs that drop it. And I feel like I do remember someone looting it from the chest in original TBC but again, lots of alcohol and brain damage since then soooooooo

2.3, mob levels nerfed. Only mobs 39 - 44 could drop PoD. That pool decreases and fluctuates with the different expansions, hence the drops do. Vanilla had the highest droprate (also applies to Shadowfang). A level 38 mob will never drop a PoD.

I have absolutely ZERO clue how this applies post level scaling in retail, but based on other's reports (I don't play retail), it seems like the item still has some internally flagged "base level", which remains 39 for this item.

Oh, it's even later than I remember then.
In that case: Why are mob levels already nerfed?

Both Vanilla and TBC started off incremented onto their last patch (2.5.1 for TBC). The phases are separate from the original patches.

Yeah but this would be a phase thing ... ?
(I am still utterly baffled by the fact that there is no actual patch progression which basically makes all this a fucking glorified secondrate private server, but yeah I digress.)

It was never a phase thing.

Uhm.
Care to elaborate? (Besides Appeal To Authority.)

Phases are just meant to stagger the content progression, but the game engine state was explicitly stated to be shipped with the latest patch. That's just what Blizzard decided.

Yes yes, bc lazy.
I would disagree with an excuse like that but it is what it is.

I fail to see how mob level would be related to 'game engine' tho, it's a fucking 5 seconds SQL query to change

Fits perfectly in line with boosts. They just want to hurry people to the endgame this time around. Nobody is saying Blizzard claimed the two things are tied. It was a design decision, not a technical limitation.

three active pod sellers on horde whitemane in the last few weeks. seen them from 6k to 10k. gl i got mine in classic
