Hello everyone..

Myself and a few of my longest standing twink dudes from the 20 bracket - (@Lopió, @Jai, @Waiwhat, @riceyx, @Maiks & @sanguinar ) have been discussing for a long time about what it would take to get the bracket back to the peak of enjoyment.

Understandably we have the long standing issue of Hunters having an extremely broken toolkit atm and all the usual gripes and moans like bramble etc blah blah blah, but we feel like there is a huge potential to work around this and have some extremely fun and competitive match up's if we could only just get the people interested.

But we have came up with an idea which could possibly eliminate this problem.

Everyday I log in and I see several solo guys, either in Goldshire or in Bg's who are playing Vets/F2P's and don't have a guild, which means the could be missing out on a huge social aspect of the game and the potential to be assisting in something really great.

I've spent some time on the US Wargame server and see it popping off every few days, if not more often than that, where they have 2 channels full of 10 players each and they are facing each other off in a structured environment via the wargame feature.

It blow's my mind that this doesn't happen on the EU servers considering how many twinks we have in the bracket as of late.

So the idea would be to have a dedicated night, once per week (To begin) where people sign up through the discord, who are interested in 7v7 or 10v10 Warsong gulch. This would be with a team structure along the lines of something like this...

- 7v7 = 1xFC, 2x Healer, 1x Stealth, 3x DPS -
-10v10 = 1xFC, 3x Healer, 2x Stealth, 5x DPS -

Within this - We would have limited class stacking for example... it wouldn't be 5x hunters in the 10v10... Which is already much better than current random queue... right?

This would mean that games could be played with a bit of structure, create a bit of a community vibe which I know has been awesome in the US.

This doesn't matter which realm your on because we can get round that with X-realm invitations & hopefully we can get some Horde vs Alliance games too which would be nice.

Please vote in the Poll so we can gauge interest - We will also create in game communities for people to join. The info for Community will follow very soon, however in the meantime you can join the Discord >>Here<<

Let me know what your thought's are and any suggestions would be welcomed.

As much as I would love to partake in the social aspect of it, but I doubt I would be much of help to the team. So guess ill just stick to getting raped by 50 Aimed shots in the meantime.

Don't be so stupid. This is about getting everyone involved and breaking down the barriers of bullshit that has come to the game.

Wrong ping for me, but I think the bracket is full of people that just play as casuals/fun and aren't interested in the competitiveness. Still think arenas are the way forward for the bracket, only so much WSG you can spam imo.

I know its a big step for a lot of people in the bracket as most find it really scary?

But, for example, Thana 1 of our guildies, never really been into arenas, but recently took part in some 2v2 wargames and had the most fun he's had in the bracket in ages.

Think people just need to take the step out of their comfort zone from farming levellers and step into arena. Sure there are some individuals in the bracket with arena exp but i guarantee that like 85% of the bracket don't and means every1 will be on a fairly even playing field.

EU pugs have alot less levelers than US and the chance for a decent pug is higher. Thats not to say wargames arent much better and thats the reason they usually happend when someone puts in the effort to make it happend. But its rare that anyone does. If youre serious then you will probably succeed.

Good luck with your efforts hope it works out over there.

Thanks mate! Just wish we could have what you guys got over the pond!

I'm hoping a lot of people who enjoy the 20's bracket can see where we are coming from and will offer to get involved... But time will tell.

Well it takes alot of effort, you need atleast a few dedicated people who have alot of classes on both factions to level out the teams when theres a core role lacking on 1 side. And having that stable in SL takes alot of effort. The people with ilvl 49s are gonna have to build sets around it or people are gonna be pushed away by playing against that. Because SL offers so much theres gonna be alot of effort required to make stuff happend. But I have faith people will step up especially if you get one session going and it goes well.

I mean no doubt what you are doing is admirable and I wholeheartedly respect it. But there are competitive players who love maximum optimization. Do you really think a team will accept someone who doesnt know the difference between Curse of Exhaustion and Curse of Weakness? Again im not looking for any problems, im genuinely asking, if you really can find a place/spot for a stupid ass player such as myself I would love to join.

I would assume arena would be really fun also, especially now that you have buttons to press. This wasn't much the case before SL.

As for 10vs10 wargames, it's super heavy lifting. I've been around for a lot of them in the past in both 19s and 20s from WoD and forward (quit 2 years ago approx.)

You have such a huge mix of players that are looking to get different things out of the wargames. I don't know if the playerpool has grown during my hiatus, but in the past it was nearly impossible to find common ground between all of the players.

You'd have those who were super competitive and felt that everything was a snore-fest unless the quality was within their expectations, which are hard to meet every single time.

Then you'd have those who are pretty casual, but still drawn towards wargames just because it sounds like fun, social and a different style of play to share among friends. They're basically just looking to have a good time over much else.

And then you'd have those who are in the middle that can gravitate towards whichever, depending.

This was a very common issue on EU (I would assume still is).

The problem was that these people did not really mix all too well and it made organizing extremely difficult. For the wargames to thrive at the time, we would need the full range of players. One segment wouldn't be enough. This meant you had people craving for instantly perfect, competitive games and casuals who were mainly looking for a chill atmosphere with some friendly games.

This created a ton of friction with frustrated players on both sides, because you'd have the super competitive players poke at the less experienced ones, and the casuals not really caring too much about the competitiveness, in turn making the casuals frustrated over all the bickering.

I can only hope for whoever end up organizing, that the playerbase is different now (a lot of people quit, so maybe there'll be less of a gap between players now to create that friction).

Anyways, it's an issue to be aware of (best known than not when trying to organize).

Good luck!

There were already wargames happening in SL. Biggest problem imo is to balance out the teams and people who have time to organise it evenly... i mean its pretty easy to get 10 Horde players up for a Wargame if we would go trough our BNet Friends.

I would play again if time and day fits.

+1 , great initiative !

Maybe you should create a dedicated wargame community.

Cheers !

just wanted to comment on this part here, back during mop when I was more active on the wow forums ( bg forums) we use to host bg forum wargames. What best has said here is pretty accurate of my experience wargamming with people. Teams would almost always be lopsided not due to class imbalance or anything like that but just player skill and attitude.

forming teams pretty hard, like when you have 2.2k+ players who want to play because we all liked each other on the forums but also have clickers and stuff who are cool to chat and play casually with. usually get 1-3 games in before ppl would go do other things or feelings would get hurt when both teams wouldn't want someone because of there lvl of ability.

Stuff like that is why I am always pretty skeptical of wargames, they can be super fun and great when everyone is willing to be chill though. really hard to get to work for long periods of time but I wish you the best socks its nice to see someone at least try. I heard NA wargames are pretty chill and fun but havent had a chance to play any yet. Just cautious of wargames in general, dont feel like dealing with drama when I just want to kill some time after a long day.

think a lot of the time the issue is to make the teams even so one team isn't stacked, cause newer people get discouraged very easily and stop attending these after a couple 0-3 games.

It's probably going to be more successful to try arrange same faction wargames to start off with? cause it seems a bit problematic to keep track of classes/specs cross factions to make games somewhat even.
