Twinking playerbase

What does the twink community think on offensive language for competetive play.

  • Offensive language is not acceptable no matter where it's posted.

  • Shit talking is part of the fun of competitive play and should be tolerated.

For 13 years I've been twinking on and off whenever blizzard allowed it. And pretty recently it seems that a changeover in the type of people that twink occured. Im curious to see exactly what types of people exist currently. My perception of twinks is that we are competitive pvpers that just have love for a certain bracket of a pvp, so they stay in that bracket. More recently, my perception is that it's become a sensitive group of noncompetitive players that twink to escape 60 pvp.

Had a situation involving the emotional scarring of a known individual which begs the question: Is this representative of the current twink community?

Sounds like you are trying to turn a ban you are clearly salty about into a wider indictment of twinking as a whole, in the process casting yourself as some kind of victim. Use the gamer words at your own risk. Also get wrecked.

Your ridiculous "poll" presents only two options, both of which are extreme and likely to cause most people to roll their eyes.

You left out the option: "Trash talk is fine in-game or on the forums, but offensive language, including slurs, is not." That's where I think most of us lie. You can talk trash about someone's play, gear, talents, strategies, forum behavior, etc. all you like. But once you bring in language like "faggot," you've crossed the line.

Its a simple question that does naturally arise from a lack logical reasoning and being introduced to a new perception.

Yep, this is where I land as well.

The worst word I use is the “R” word.

I did post an option allowing you to vote for "offensive language is not okay." So please after you finish rolling your eyes, please vote so I can see accurate data. Thanks

"R" word would in nature is discriminatory to people with special needs and would be considered a slur.

So heres the difference. If i called somebody a faggot for being gay, then it would be predjudice. If I called somebody a faggot for organizing a raid group to kill 19s during a fishing contest, then its offensive language.

Theres a huge difference that is captured in context.

wtf is this i dont even-

First, learn to use the quote function. It's really quite intuitive and user-friendly. Second, this is further proof that you have committed the logical fallacy of "False Dichotomy" or "False Dilemma." You have presented only two options, which, in effect, characterizes them as the only possibilities. And thereby, your laughable attempt to "see accurate data" fails at the outset, because now you are arguing that there are multiple categories of language into which the word "faggot" may fall--"prejudice" and "offensive speech." See how your argument has fallen into tatters? Further, how do you know the person you called a "faggot" isn't gay? This is why language like this is verboten; your intent to insult someone by calling him or her a "faggot" is clear, but how that person responds to the word is something over which you have no control. Hence, you should apologize, own up to your mistake, and not do it any more.

I got banned lol. The response i got from grizzly was just calling me a bigot and was hardly a conversation. I personally didn't know that faggot was against the rules considering that Ive never in my life considered anyone homophobic for saying faggot unless there were obvious intentions regarding their sexuality. I still believe that in most all people, that is the case. However based on how grizzly reacted, it definitely was a different view than what youre saying... and if you'd like me to add another poll column what would it say?

your big problem seems to be feeling like you're owed a conversation when people tell you piss off for using bigoted language.

If a community shows you the door, you either change your behavior or leave.
The community didnt show me the door, one very unstable person did. And based on the replies, it seems the majority agrees with me.
