Except it was, take a look at the name credited on Wowhead.

So no, not directly myself that posted it directly on wowhead, I was contacted by a guy (Mendl) on a discord channel I've been on for years that just happened to have connections on wowhead. I mean it would've ended up there anyway. This just sped it up, which was the intent, and as you can see in those messages to him I never tried to get credit from it on Wowhead itself. Which is why my name isn't there. Plus it was me and three other guys over from Umrens discord that got the info here on XP Off and quickly gathered together on PTR to try it out further.

Edit: And all we hoped from this was to get more attention to it in hope of the no-XP buff change not reaching 8.2 live.

And don't you think it's a good thing it was brought to attention quicker?

Edit: I mean, Light is still the credited source, as it was from this post we found it out and just relayed the info further on. I don't quite see how you seem to want to spin that into a bad thing.

Question, do you all think there will be bans going out to people who've done the exp off into exp on bgs a few times? Asking for a friend. :Kappa:.
 
Most likely, its a blatant bug that people are abusing and is directly affecting and hurting other peoples experience in BG's, its not like the xp potion bug where it only affected you, this bug affects the entire BG and once they find a good fix for it, they are going to most likely ban a lot of people like they did with the xp pot bug
 
Thats exactly what they said about the xp potion bug, and then look what happened lol even method josh got a long ban for using it once
 
Well, I suppose i'll wait to see if I get banned come 8.2 which i'm guessing if there is a ban wave it will be there. I'll let you guys know.
 
If anything the bans would be more severe since you ARE directly ruining/affecting other players experience in BG's, and that its not just a simple thing as making multiple stacks of potions this exploit is 100% intended and a majority of people are using macros to do it so it would be easy to see whos abusing it, My guess is the only reason they havn't banned people for it yet is because they are focusing on other thing in prep for 8.2 (Or wanting to ruin the other side of twinking)
 
Are y'all really bug abusing and expecting to not have some form of repercussions?
I doubt it'll be "severe" like this person's trying to make it seem, but odds really aren't in the bug abusers favor.
 
I mean some people that did the xp pot bug got banned for over a month, on avg it was 2-3 weeks that's pretty severe. And this bug is a lot more severe then that one so its safe to assume they will be equal or greater to that since this one doesn't just affect 1 person
 
I carried a guild made who had like a 5 stack of draught but he never got banned. I guess it might be the severity in which you did this.

Edit: He only needed 6-7 levels iirc.
 
The problem with the bans for the xp pot abuse is none of it was consistent, some people could level 10 toons in 1 day and not get banned, someone could stack 2 of the buffs and get banned for a month. I'm guessing because its hard to tell how many potions you used and if they stacked and other variables that they have to filter thru, but with a macro bug such as this they just see if you have the macro and boom bam you got a ban.
