General Weapons and how to swing them harder.

Sorry for the necro guys.
I noticed in bg's (20-29) that Mistweavers also seem to benefit from weapon speed. I equipped a staff and the DPS went up significantly. Is this correct or is it a tooltip error? Hard to test dps on a Mistweaver when your main aim is to heal but nothing wrong with smacking a few people out in between heals :p
Anyone have experience with weapon speed and Misty's? I will try and test in the coming days but thought I'd check if anyone already has done some. It's just I don't see Misty's with staffs. Snips below :-

Not sure if the lower Stam is due to the lower ilvl or the 2 hander vs the 1 hand + off hand difference? But the damage is much higher with the staff (I know there are even slower staffs). It doesn't affect AP so I'm assuming there is no difference also with heals between the 2?

Monks are wonky. I am unsure if Windwalker in particular gets increased damage from slower weapons (I don't play monk). However, logically speaking, since all monk specs do in fact use various melee-like mechanics to do damage, it would make sense that their damage is also affected by weapons the same way any other melee is.

I ran some dps tests some time ago. It was a little while ago now and I'm certain Mistweaver's benefited more from Spell Power than weapon speed. But that was world dps (or PvE dps). iPvP is obviously different due to normalised stats but still I'm surprised weapon speed affects an Int based class. They do have the same abilities I guess. I will try some tests this coming week and see what I can find. If indeed Mist's hit harder with a staff in iPvP then we'll see many Misty's giving up their http://www.wowhead.com/item=43327/stratholme-lily for a http://www.wowhead.com/item=122368/grand-staff-of-jordan&bonus=582! Funny given we don't actually get the weapon out but use our fists!

Just reporting back after some Mistweaver dps testing. I have a feeling that as has been noted in earlier posts that some of the tooltips are not correct within bg's (well at least on my Monk). Switching between a main hand + off hand and a two-handed staff makes no difference to the tooltips. However dps for abilities seems to be higher when using the main hand + off hand. Now, I'm not sure if this is because my main hand + off hand puts me at ilvl 36 which gives me the extra stam boost and maybe some stealth Spell Power boost which I can't see or simply because it's better than the two-hander? I'm at ilvl 33 with the two-hander and don't get the stam boost. I probably need to try some more tests and keep my ilvl down to eliminate the ilvl factor.
Melee white hits are certainly higher using the two-hander, but melee is only like 10% of your damage so not worth the extra dps if your main abilities are down.
For PvE on the other hand, it's all about Spell Power. The more Int and SP, the greater the DPS.
So sadly, unlike I first thought it doesn't appear the slower weapon helps Misty's other than some extra white hit dps.

When I switch weapons while inside a bg the amount of damage I do on my skill tooltip never goes as high as where it started

these numbers are for saber slash at level 19 on my combat rogue
2.8 speed main hand spawned in with: 410~ damage
swap to dagger main hand: 290~ damage
swap back to 2.8 speed main hand: 395 damage

I don't know if this is a tooltip bug, but I think it's worth noting that switching weapons or gear while in a bg may possibly lower your stats irreversibly until your next match

Hey, I just noticed this also. I usually switch to my PvP set in the bg. I notice when I do my main stat drops, then when I put my PvE set back on it doesn't go back up. Once it drops, then you can switch between sets with the usual ilvl effect, but strange how it remains lower than when you originally get into the bg.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Ok, it certainly seems if you enter a bg and switch weapons or gear inside the bg your stats do get gimped. Best to enter the bg with your PvP set or you'll lose out. Not sure if this happens in all brackets but it certainly seems the case at 20. Also not sure if it's just an unsub'd thing or if it happens to all toons? The below images are from my BM Hunter :-

Changes :-
Agility drops by 4
Damage drops by 2 - 3
Attack Power down by 4
Attack Speed increases? WTF? It's the same weapon?
Weapon DPS drops 5.5
Focus Regen drops by 0.6
Global CD increases by 0.08
And the biggest change, Haste drops by 6.5?

Just for the record, below is the stats when entering a bg in my PvE set and next to it compared with the PvP set. So you'll see item level does still work in bg's but switching between them inside the bg is a no-no!

That seriously triggers me because after adding those movie transmog items to my wardrobe I think I deleted them, I mean who would have thought that a damn cosmetic item literally designed for nothing else with shit damage and an ilvl of 1 would end up fkn BIS in blizzards completely fkn retarded new pvp system. What also triggers me is why? The thing is the same speed as the loom so what makes it special? ive heard some people suggest it might be the qpic quality of the item So is that yet another variable in this stupid new system? Or is it unique to this item? Nothing makes fkn sense anymore we're all wearign damn fishing trinkets, statless fkn rings and replica fkn weapons...its like some social experiment to see what wow addicts will endure before they crack...'ok lets see how the test cases respond if we buff survival again!...hmmm interesting...ok now make this weapon the best but only if they equip it at a certain time of day...Oo curious curious' edit - and dont get me started on wands

This is why I literally keep a hold on anything that seems out of the ordinary. Because who knows, maybe that fucking weird item from some time ago might end up being usable at a later time. I have a lot of items saved just for that alone xd (including exploitable stuff, just because again, who knows!?)

So forgive me if I missed it as I glossed over the thread, but I didnt see the change that Ive found in the 60 bracket, and have yet to test in other brackets.

It use to be based solely on Weapon Speed, slower being better, but as of a week or 2 ago, myself and few 60s noticed that something changed. Its not just singularly based on weapon speed, but it appears to be based around Weapon speed and top end damage. BiS for 60s is now The Unstoppable Force.

So which is it for 2H at 60?

First post lists The Blackrock Slicer as BiS: ilvl 60/speed 4.0/ 28.93 dps
You say The Unstoppable Force - ilvl 65/speed 3.8/34.87 dps
Then there's High Warlord's Battle Axe - ilvl 78/speed 3.8/35.58 dps

In the movie weapon's defense they were also bis for the end of wod for the same reason (hitting way harder then the weapon should). I agree though, it is very unfortunate. I would argue that this is how the new era of twinking works however, just wait for blizz to make special events and have twinks manipulate them. (Love is in the air, Legion Invasion, Movie Event, ilvl in bgs allowing whites, new fishing tourney, and more to come in the future.) I don't necessarily believe it is a bad thing as it incentives twinks to maintain gear as it changes in weird ways, but it would be more meaningful if gear mattered or weapons weren't the only thing to matter.

Unstoppable Force, Highwarlords and I think Sulf are all equal if I remember correctly. At 69, only Heirloom is BiS.

If you are talking about the first post on the Battle.net forums, it hasnt been updated in quiet some time, and I am not the OP so you'd have to reach out to Solanar to change it. I have since unsubed and may or may not resub with little or no activity thanks to being busy IRL.
