WoTLK Lore

So I started playing WoW in pre-BC, as I know many of you did. I myself was a hardcore raider with Drama before I started the whole twinking thing when I was bored and had nothing else to do. So, now a huge storyline (Arthas) is coming to an end, and I am definitely feeling nostalgia, sadness etc for a storyline that I have always really (and this is the reason I played WoW when it often got bored; the Lore I mean) loved. What did you guys think of the final end etc? Even you guys that didnt play pre-bc if you raid at all you might have seen the lore just out of curiosity.

SPOILER DO NOT READ MORE IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO THE LK

I personally wish more had happened. Just seeing Arthas ask his dad if this was the end and then face the eternal darkness wasnt that epic for me. Jaina/Sylvanas dont even play a role. I wanted Jaina to cry or something, feel a spirit touch her cheek before moving on or something. I wanted Sylvanas to finally get redemption or something... I wanted the Undead to feel something.. and none of this happened. I just feel like there is a lot of important stuff.. that frankly doesnt seem like its going to happen. :(:(:(

Indeed, there was so much untapped potential with the ending... and Bolvar deserved his own cool dramatic theme with his sacrifice but anyways, the DKs were not touched on as far as "What Now?" is concerned like with the Forsaken and Sylvannas. However, we cannot overlook the fact that this week's LK hardmodes could potentially provide more Horde and Alliance related lore. I want to know what Varian hears of Arthas' last moments or of Bolvar. I also want to know which Deathbringer quotes will become the accepted Canon, as the Alliance version can have serious implications in the Warcraft Story as far as how Varian treats the Orcs as a whole (We know though that Garrosh and him will be at each other's throats every chance they get though).

I knew the second Bolvar died he was gonna come back in a role that was much more fitting for him, but I honestly thought it was gonna be more like him doing the final blow on Arthas and taking frostmourne for himself, but then you would loose respect for bolvar or it wasnt quite something he would have done in his life. The choice he made was deff something he would have done while still alive and I can very much see him playing some kind of major role in the next expansion as he was transformed from the dragons fire, and Deathwing being the causer of the cataclysm. Maybe blizzard is trying to do something there. I think they really could have done alot more with the ending but who knows. There could be alot more unlocked or done from the hardmodes.

Agreed. I like Bolvar having to give up so much, as he says he gave up everything a mortal could.. hes encased in ice for literally eternity. I also liked Terenas (arthas's dad) coming back once the sword was shattered. I personally wanted Arthas's soul to come back to and comfort Jaina/Sylvanas etc.. Arthas touched a lot of lives including Varian, so I wish there was some closure there (They used to be best friends).

What was the alliance Deathbringer quote?

I went to Borders and just read some of the lore books.. its not too bad. I personally WoW wiki the stuff and read all about it. Thats how I got most of my knowledge.. its pretty sad stuff though. A lot of the people we "heroes" end up killing never get a chance for redemption and are often figures that were heroes at some point that ended up doing things that they though they had to do to save those they loved.. that includes almost all of the bosses in BC, and almost all of them in WoTLK. Killing off aspects for example was never a good way to go.

Fair play to you, but I'd rather have a book in front of me, just reading lots and lots of text on the pc, kinda makes me sleepy :S :p

The Alliance Deathbringer Outro:

Muradin Bronzebeard gasps for air.

Muradin Bronzebeard says: That was Saurfang's boy - the Horde commander at the Wrath Gate. Such a tragic end...

Muradin Bronzebeard says: What in the... There, in the distance!

A Horde Zeppelin flies up to the rise

Muradin Bronzebeard yells: Soldiers, fall in! Looks like the Horde are comin' in to take another shot!

The Zeppelin docks, and High Overlord Saurfang hops out, confronting the Alliance soldiers and Muradin

Muradin Bronzebeard says: Don't force my hand, orc. We can't let you pass.

High Overlord Saurfang says: Behind you lies the body of my only son. Nothing will keep me from him.

Muradin Bronzebeard says: He... I can't do it. Get back on your ship and we'll spare your life.

King Varian Wrynn says: Stand down, Muradin. Let a grieving father pass.

High Overloed Saurfang kneels over his son's body.

High Overlord Saurfang says: [Orcish] No'ku kil zil'nok ha tar.

Higher Overlord Saurfang picks up the body of his son and walks over towards Varian

High Overlord Saurfang says: I will not forget this kindess. I thank you, highness.

King Varian Wrynn says says: I... I was not at the Wrathgate. But the soldiers who survived told me much of what happened. Your son fought with honor. He died a hero's death. He deserves a hero's burial.

Lady Jaina Proudmoore cries.

King Varian Wrynn says says: Jaina, why are you crying?

Lady Jaina Proudmoore says: It was nothing, your majesty. Just... I'm proud of my king.

King Varian Wrynn says says: Muradin, secure the deck and prepare our soldiers for an assault on the Upper Citadel. I'll send out another regiment from Stormwind.

Muradin Bronzebeard says says: Let's get the move then. Move out!
