When is it acceptable to drop professions?

I just got to 100/100 alchemy and herbalism, went to my bank, and saw that I had mechanical squirrel schematics in there. I really want to make this pet, but on the other hand, it was a pretty dull, long grind of herbs to get my way to 100. What I'm asking is, what is the threshold for when you should or should not drop professions. (I haven't learned any of my rare recipes yet for alchemy)

There's no right or wrong answer here. If you want the squirrel bad enough, you'll make it. Personally, I don't give a shit about companions and don't see why people do so much.

If the satisfaction the mechanical squirrel will give you is enough to go through another phase of a long, dull grind of leveling a profession from 1-100 then by all means, do it.

Tbh honest no, theirs many pets in the game, besides DMF is here just by one of the companions.

I say make the pet. I have a few reasons.

1. I'm guessing by your sig you are talking about the alliance warrior. Alliance pvp queue times can be long, giving you ample time to farm what you need to level profs.

2. Pets are permanent. It seems that at least in part you care about pets and that sort of thing. It's inconvenient right now, but leveling professions is not so bad.

3. Since you just leveled alchemy, I'll guess you have a decent stock of things there, so you can afford to drop herbalism and make the pet. Also I didn't look to see if you've learned any world drop alchemy recipes or not. Another reason to keep alchemy.

Ark if your reading this we should delete the questions thread because no one uses it, and to answer op http://www.twinkinfo.com/f2p-twink-guides/22950-comprehensive-profession-guide-lv20-f2p.html

if you want the pet that badly then just drop alch and herb, make it then switch back, you can do all of this in a couple of hours tbh

If any thread should be deleted its all the junk 1-liner question threads.

The question thread has already ammassed 7 pages with lots of question/answer. The thread just needs to be made a bit more obvious so people dont skip over it.

There should only be one reason why you shouldn't drop a prof: Swiftness Potion Recipe. If you have another in your bags, just go for it.

no one is going to browse 7 pages (and growing) of questions and answers to look for their question if they couldn't find it with the search feature (if they even bothered with that)...just isn't going to happen. the more pages there are, the fewer people who are going to look at it.

this site is a forum, not a library...and that's how most people use it.

and OP...like others have said...if you've learned an uncommon recipe (specifically speedpots) and don't have any in the bank, don't drop the recipe.

also, it only takes about an hour at most to level herbalism to 75 (which is when you get the 2nd rank of the haste spell)...so dropping it isn't as big a deal as you think.

I'm not saying turn the question thread into a big collection of FAQ for F2Ps.. it can at least serve as a way to keep the forum clear of all these new topics asking one question only to be answered then locked by Baffi. ESPECIALLY the ones asking for bis/chardevs.... if our Armory/Rankings topics weren't bumped all the way back maybe

or make a question/answer sub-forum for people who want to discuss that kind of stuff or help clear up any questions... i dunno.

If someone posts in the question thread asking for help/answers, i think its only natural that they would come back to check for any responses

but its been said a few times already - all the fun stuff/guides/relevant F2P news is getting pushed to the later pages of the forum.

..which happens with pretty much every forum. a forum is a rather basic tool with a specific function. imo, you're wanting to use a butter knife to remove a screw. it can work the way you want it to, but that's not what its designed to do.

really? we're talking about this? it's lvl 100...
it's not like having a lvl 575 where you've been running instance and picking up new items for you proff...
or you farmed for something for days and can't bear to lose that...
and as said earlier... it's DMF do all Proffs to 75 anyhow

I'm working on something that will hopefully make the question thread a bit more noticeable and help keep the forum cleaner. Enough arguing about it.
