What bracket/group is most active right now?

Not sure if I will resume playing, just logging in to see if old friends are milling about or if any brackets are active.

I have not played in a few years now so some of the new stuff seems entirely alien lol

I have some toons on Warmane, as well as some old school L20 in addition to my fleet of 19s 29s 39s 70s etc.

Thanks for any infos.

Sadly level 20s have stolen the stage. And warmane twink brackets have gradually ebbed and flowed with depreciating results on the line up. Twinking really just isn’t the same anymore.
The caveat is that classic has some decent 19, 29 pops, and a good chance wotlk on the horizon will have some come backs of the higher brackets.

20s are certainly the most popular by a rather wide margin. Wait times in 20s are like 5-10 minutes, though if you're a real degenerate and play at like 4am that could approach 15-20.

xpac capped 50s are also a thing, though not quite as popular. No idea what 50s look like, thats @zazzyfraz territory.

xp-off 39s also exist and while they dont get casual BG ques, they get plenty of wargames/arenas on scheduled nights throughout the week. I dont plays 39s, but @Kirise and @Rejuvenizer can probably tell you more about them.

There's also more PVE oriented levels like 10s (no pvp, just speed clearing pve) and 30s (seem to be raid focused and very inconsistent)

Good luck out there!

Goldenclaw! There's a blast from the past. I still have your old RBG strats saved in a txt file somewhere.

@Chops did a great summary on the state of twinking brackets. To that I'll add two things. First, gearing a twink is the most interesting it's ever been. Lots of great choices in most slots and ways to optimize your stats. Second, twinking alone in the lower brackets is rough, because class imbalances require collaboration in battlegrounds and arenas to overcome those imbalances. It's a great feeling playing the 2nd or 3rd tier class you love, and taking down a team of hunters. But on your own, trying to collaborate with levelers (and fellow twinks) who don't believe in objectives can make you blow your top.

In a nutshell, gearing choices are extremely awesome, and PvP is extremely casual. People (myself included) take farming their gear more seriously than their PvP. If that's your jam, you're in for a good time.

Not if you queue on a ally + a horde account at the same time and just accept the first pop :) It's also a lot more fun to play from both perspectives.

Yeah I'm giving 79 twinking a go. I had a lot of fun with my 69 twinks in BC classic until the queues got too long. I'm thinking 79 might have some more staying power. Lots of people with BIS 70's will turn their xp off as trophy toons and do some pvp. And if it fails, well there's always lvl 20 retail twinking!

In fact I'll probably queue 20's retail and 79's wrath at the same time. I'll just /afk out on the 20 if the 79 gets a pop.

20s retail by a mile. Outside of players choosing to log Hunters its in a healthy and active place atm. Shadowlands was the perfect opportunity to go f2p as most of the GF toons were made redundant (unless you played 39s pre SL). Personally I haven't invested time in Classic brackets as I'm of the opinion that eventually it will die - and thus too much of a time-sink/missed opportunities on Retail. I'd wager (and I hope) that WotLK is the last classic expansion we'll see.

no way i wanna go back to steath pulling ordos on gathering but unprepared raids in the timeless isle again.

/not usually a griefer but that shit is comedy GOLD

Hoping enough cap their toons at 70 to push the 79s off the table tbh, but I’m happy to have the bracket active regardless

Regarding 20s, there was a span of time when I played level capped 20s on free accounts, multiple fishing tournament wins and BOAs all of that kind of stuff, and had a ton on both Horde and Alliance. Is this still a thing or do you need to run modern dungeons on paid accounts to get some gear satchels with socket gear or something

a LOT has changed since then.

If you're interested in 20s, you could a lot worse than start here with the FAQ and the guides/armory thread linked within. Its a bit of a read, but you'll be set up quite nicely
